Senior Data Engineer (Bigdata)

Gracenote, a Nielsen Company is the leading provider of entertainment metadata and media  recognition technology that powers the top TV, music, sports, and automotive platforms.  Gracenote is one of the largest Video metadata databases in the world. We help the biggest  names in broadcast TV, on-demand movies, and streaming video. From Hollywood to  Bollywood, Streaming to Broadcast, everything we do at Gracenote revolves around audience  and content. 
We are presently looking for a Senior Data Engineer to become part of our Video Data delivery  platform team based in Gracenote’s Mumbai Office. This data delivery team is responsible for  one of the most critical parts of the Gracenote data platform: putting our data into the hands  of customers.  
Tech Stack: Kotlin, Java, Go, Spring Boot, Apache Spark, AWS, Cassandra, Postgresql

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:

• Drive the delivery platform product and technology strategy.
• Provide expertise on multiple phases of a big-data technology project lifecycle  from design, implementation, optimization, and support.  
• Design and develop high-quality products using Scala/Java, EMR, Spark etc
• Follow Agile software development methodologies and adhere to best practices in  the software development process. 
• Work cross-functionally with various teams including product management, various  product lines, and/or business units to drive forward results 
• Pursue and resolve complex or unchartered technical problems and share key learnings.
• Design and implement POCs, productized components and features. 
• Work on data processing pipeline using the latest and greatest open-source technologies.  
• Operating and scaling our infrastructure in AWS. 
• Take passion in going deep into critical issues and apply the learnings back into the  product and team, whether technical or procedural.

FOR THIS ROLE WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years’ experience designing and developing high quality software.
• Strong coding skills in either ONE of these: Kotlin, Java, Scala, Go 
• Experience with big data ecosystem - Apache Spark, Cassandra 
• Excellent communication skills: Demonstrated ability to describe complex technical  issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
• Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design  patterns, distributed systems and OO analysis & design.
• In-depth expertise on Core Java & conceptual and programming skills.
