Senior Data Engineer (Remote)

As a small but rapidly growing company, we are looking for a self-starting Senior Data Engineer to help us build and optimize our data pipeline infrastructure across multiple cloud environments. You will be a key member of an amazing multi-talented team that is using cutting edge web and data technologies to develop the FHIR API standard to access patient electronic health record data for the digital healthcare industry. 

In this role, you’ll get to:

• Build, deploy, and optimize data pipelines and data lakes.
• Work with the analytics team to build  and implement deployment processes for both internal and external analytics software and products.
• Set best practices related to Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform use for the Data Analytics and Data Engineering groups
• Mentor junior developers/engineers in relevant technologies/process development/deployment best practices
• Develop Cloud Agnostic approaches for deployments
• Work with a team to bring Patient healthcare data together to affect future health outcomes

We are looking for people who have:

• Prior experience building and optimizing infrastructure for large streaming data pipelines
• Experience with big data tools: Databricks, Spark, Hadoop, Glue, Kinesis/Kafka, AWS Athena
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases including Postgres and DynamoDB
• Experience with cloud deployment tools and methodologies: AWS Cloud Formation, Docker, Terraform
• Strong experience in the AWS ecosystem (EC2, S3, Fargate, etc.)
• Proficient in a JVM language (Scala, Java, Kotlin) and Python
• Proficient with PySpark and/or Scala
• Strong analytical skills related to working with unstructured datasets
• Familiarity with data science tools/notebooks: Jupyter Notebooks, Apache Zeppelin

You may also have:

• Healthcare and/or bioinformatics experience
• Experience with large-scale data processing platforms such as Apache Spark, EMR, Databricks, Apache Nifi, Airflow
• Proficiency with a CI/CD pipeline technology such as Jenkins, Travis CI, AWS CodePipeline, or GitHub Actions etc.
• BS/MS Computer Science / Software Engineering or commensurate prior experience
