What you’ll do: 

Our Safety & Mission Assurance team is growing! Support Torc’s Test Safety program to ensure the safety testing of Automated Driving System (ADS)-equipped vehicles.  

This role supports and provides guidance to engineering teams by reviewing autonomous vehicle software development, and system integration and development testing efforts. Coordinates completion and acceptance of unit and system software and test activities. 

  • Ensure and oversee the implementation of Operational Test Safety Policy, Safety Operating Procedures, Operational Design Domain, Operational Safety Order, and other safety policies and processes within the development and release test teams 
  • Ensure that the safety case for Autonomous Vehicle platforms is maintained 
  • Support the review of work products needed to complete test safety analysis through the entire safety lifecycle including reviewing functional safety assessments, hazard analysis, risk assessments, and test readiness reviews 
  • Review closed course and on road development mission test plans, test tickets, risk assessments and mitigation strategies 
  • Support cross functional product development engineering teams to identify and close gaps to ensure component and system level safety compliance 
  • Support product development and systems engineering teams to assess safety of new technologies and strategies 
  • Assist functional product safety teams to help identify the root cause for issues and facilitate the organizations lessons learned process 
  • Review the implementation of Test Safety processes, documentation for software releases, public road testing, and testing documents 
  • Help ensures a strong safety program within a pervasive safety culture 

What you’ll need to Succeed: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field of study; or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience in work history. 
  • 10+ years of professional experience in complex development and test operations in a safety role 
  • Highly experienced in requirements management, software design and development, safety engineering testing and management. 
  • Experience in project management, vehicle program management, product development life cycle, project planning, and/or supplier liaison and management 
  • Ability to travel occasionally to our other locations 

Bonus Points! 

  • Experience in System Engineering and Integration, vehicle program support, and root cause analysis 
  • Experience in safety verification and validation strategies  
  • Understanding of Lean principles to improve operations
  • Experience supporting and reviewing compliance with Automotive SPICE
