Position Summary:

 

The Biospecimen Solutions Data Manager is responsible for collecting data from specimen collection trials, specimen supply sites including lab partners, academic medical centers and other collaborators of the biospecimen business unit. This position ensures data collected is accurate, data is organized per business needs, solves operational problems, and prepares specimen inventory summaries and other reports to support growth.

 

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an overall organizational data strategy that is in line with the biospecimen business unit
  • With appropriate stakeholder guidance, develop and recommend data model designs, database development standards, implementation and management of data warehouses
  • Work with other team members to provide guidance on programming tasks related to data processing, QC and analysis pipelines
  • Identify suboptimal processes and develop improvement strategies to improve quality, efficiency, consistency and reproducibility
  • Develop and maintain effective documentation and data specifications
  • Implement strategy for data cleaning and data visualization tools
  • Develop robust data collection workflows and strategies for data acquisition needs across trials, lab partners, academic medical centers and other specimen supply chain collaborators
  • Research new strategies, tactics and opportunities for novel data acquisition processes.
  • Sort information and then ensure its screened, grouped, summarized, transcribed, coded accordingly
  • Consult with other employees to solve operational problems around data management
  • Provide and manage clerical duties such as data entry, transcription, coding, and collation
  • Ability to work independently with little to no instruction on routine work
  • Manage data from specimen collection studies through review, digitization, cleaning and auditing of clinical data and databases in compliance with standard operating procedures, client guidelines and regulatory agency guidelines
  • Generate variety of reports and summaries from sample management inventory systems
  • Query data inconsistencies and revise case report forms in compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Review case report forms for completeness and consistency
  • Review and approve design, data review ground rules and database design according to Standard Operating procedures and protocol
  • Serve as the central person for all report requests
  • Other duties as assigned by management

 

Qualifications:

 

Minimum Required:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Data Management, Bioinformatics or equivalency in clinical data management experience
  • 3 - 5 years of relevant working experience

 

 

 

Other Required:

 

  • Strong leadership skills to meet and sustain a high performance work culture standards
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Demonstrated success in partnering with sales and marketing to initiate new business, manage customer expectations and close projects
  • Strong computer and business writing skills
  • Excellent use of judgment and discretion
  • Proven track record of coordination and communication with team members across disparate technical and business backgrounds such as Sales & Marketing, Operations, Executive Management, Finance, and Quality Assurance
  • Extended work hours may be necessary in order to meet business demands
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license allowing you to drive in the state(s) you drive in  
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally including overnight stays
  • Ability to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language

 

 

Preferred:

 

  • 1-3 years of Biotechnology, biorepository or life science industry experience
  • Laboratory information management system and/or sample management system experience, including BSI Systems
  • Database administration
  • Software development experience
  • Entrepreneurial
  • People management experience
