Your role and team:

You will be part of the Autonomous Flight team at Lilium, responsible for pilotless flight of the Lilium Jet. We are looking for passionate researchers and software engineers to develop the first fully autonomous system for commercial aviation. Your responsibilities will stretch across algorithm development, implementation, testing, and certification basis. The team is cross functional and works on autonomy problems from initial inception to final implementation of safety critical systems. You will have the opportunity to shape the direction and methods of the autonomy team on the way to a full autonomy system for commercial aviation.

Your day-to-day:

  • Define the algorithms and methods used for autonomous flight of the Lilium Jet
  • Set the architecture and techniques used for the autonomous flight system of the Lilium Jet
  • Implement and test solutions in a rapid development environment
  • Use and develop Lilium’s simulation, testing, and verification tools
  • Support the build up of our internal autonomous flight team

Your profile:

  • MS with 2+ years work experience or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Computer Vision, Mathematics or similar field
  • Strong experience developing and implementing algorithms in one of the following areas: motion planning, SLAM, decision making, computer vision, behavior prediction, optimization
  • Experience as a self-directed engineer / research scientist who excels at driving new research ideas from conception and experimentation to product
  • Strong development skills in C++ or Python
  • Experience with Matlab/Simulink and Linux
