We're on a mission to provide our patients with healthcare that is accessible and dependable, at a fraction of today's cost. By creating a safe, efficient and convenient approach to healthcare we’ve already provided over 6 million consultations across the UK, Germany, France, and Ireland. 

Our team of Doctors, Engineers, Customer Support Advisors, Marketers, Product Managers, UX Designers, Pharmacists, Commercial & Operations Specialists all work collaboratively to build a digital healthcare platform that enables our patients to find the right healthcare quickly, effectively, and discreetly so they can do more of what matters to them. 

At the end of 2020, we secured a second round of investment and completed two exciting acquisitions in Germany. We're a scaleup company with ambitious growth plans.

About the role:

This role will see an experienced Head of Data & Insights join our team to focus on developing and refining a comprehensive data strategy for ZAVA. You will have autonomy and authority within Data and Insights, and directly manage a growing team of analysts and engineers.  You will also create solid working relationships with ZAVA group companies - helping to bring us ever closer to common views on business intelligence.

This role has a big scale and huge potential. ZAVA is ready to really scale up, and accurate data, available in real time is crucial to drive the correct reactions. As a data, analytics and insight expert, you are expected to actively participate in strategic discussions with important customers, partners and stakeholders. You will be able to influence senior stakeholders and will have the gravitas and credibility that will drive ZAVA to follow the vision you help to set out.

Day-to-day the work will encompass:

  • In partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, define the data strategy for ZAVA and deliver a roadmap for how we can deliver on those objectives
  • Form a symbiotic relationship with the Marketing, Product, Clinical, Commercial, Financial and Operations teams to foster a clear approach that puts accurate data and meaningful insight at the centre of decision making
  • Provide leadership and expertise in the design of new data, research and insight processes, systems and approaches. Helping to guide the team with clear prioritisation.
  • Lead, recruit, retain and develop a diverse team of data and insight specialists - both from engineering and analytical perspectives
  • Champion the company wide use of data visualisations, business intelligence, insights and raw data to suit their needs - we believe in data democratisation through our BI tool - Looker
  • Drive and oversee provision of master data management and data warehousing solutions within Redshift and data lake development using S3, whilst also managing costs of ownership and operation
  • Establish a ‘data as a product’ capability at ZAVA; develop and refine a comprehensive data strategy - ensuring the team is equipped to meet current and future challenges
  • Drive our ability and tooling to support Hypothesis testing, for instance A/B and multivariate, whilst training the organisation to use them effectively
  • Clearly identify the components of our existing data architecture to be improved and reworked.

Experience and qualifications:

  • Demonstrable ability to design, lead and implement successful data and insight initiatives within a complex and multi-stakeholder environment
  • Experienced in a senior data & insights role, preferably within a medical services domain, leading and coaching a team
  • Strong technology skills to include enterprise and SaaS platform/tooling selection, cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS) and advanced SQL and Python as a detailed practitioner of the function you lead.
  • History of delivering outcomes emerging from clear targets and plans
  • Demonstrable experience in problem-solving ability, particularly in complex technical situations and with complex business problems
  • Deep experience in KPIs - the difference between vanity and actionable metrics
  • Able to motivate and develop a cross departmental team of tribe leads
  • Experience in communicating with C-level executives in a strategic context.
  • History of providing strategic insights for organisations
  • Smart, collaborative and able to communicate clearly
  • Disciplined in creating clear objectives, assessing performance and addressing problems

Core working hours

Our core business hours are 9am - 6pm, although flexible working arrangements are available upon agreement with your line manager.
