Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first
Humana’s Clinical Strategy and Analytics (CS&A) Team is seeking a Lead Research Scientist (Remote).

Healthcare is rapidly changing, and our members are living longer, often with more chronic conditions. The Clinical Strategy & Analytics team identifies opportunities and build solutions to improve clinical outcomes and lower costs for millions of Medicare Advantage beneficiaries through an evidence-based approach using data analytics, clinical expertise, strategic mindset, and rigorous study designs. In this multi-disciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with strategy partners and clinicians to shape Humana’s enterprise clinical strategies and initiatives.

The Lead Research Scientist will play a key role in all aspects of analytics needed to support the launch and success of clinical intervention programs. This can include analytic tasks related to population health opportunity sizing, trend and financial alignment, study design, data engineering and operational support, marketing analysis support, clinical outcomes analysis, presentations/publications, and work management. A Lead Research Scientist is a senior member of Clinical Analytics and often independently represents the work and moves initiative forward.

As a Lead Research Scientist in this role, you will:

  • Be fluent working with large, complex medical claims data using analytics technologies (SQL, SAS, Python/Pyspark, Databricks, Microsoft Azure, PowerBI) and analytics methodologies (exploratory/descriptive analysis, predictive modeling, causal outcomes research, and data visualization).
  • Deliver trusted analysis in a timely manner.  This involves prioritizing and planning your work, setting realistic timelines for delivering analysis results, and communicating with business partners on the status of work.
  • Have expertise on Humana’s business, clinical, and Rx performance measures and KPIs.  This will involve collaboration with clinicians, clinical informaticists, and business partners to understand terminology, measurement, and coding specifications.
  • Lead with the leveraging of analytics to help the business and clinical intervention programs be more successful.  This involves you filling a variety of roles in a project that can range from data engineering/architecture, business intelligence, behavioral economics, machine learning, to analytics DevOps support.
  • Build strong rapport with Humana decision-makers and business partners.  This will involve keeping a great attitude working with others who are not as strong with analytics, being able to explain things well, and trying to serve the needs of decision-makers you work with.
  • This role is in leads and supports strategic analytics for development and execution of BH Strategy and to support opportunity sizing and viability of multiple vendors brought forward by our Discovery and Strategic Partnership stakeholders.
