Head of Data Analytics - Risk. The rear view mirror. 

 

As Head of Data Analytics - Risk you will help to ensure that machine learning models and other safeguards used to protect SumUp continue to align with a good customer experience. Risk Analytics forms the backbone of our business. As Head of Analytics - Risk, you will be responsible for providing analytics not only to our tribe but also to the Risk Platform’s customers across the entire organisation. Using your proven track record of success in a similar environment, you will build a roadmap and strategy, setting a vision for the Risk Analytics function at Sumup and drive execution according to this vision.

In the role of Head of Data Analytics - Risk you will be analyzing structured data (risk, transaction risk, account security, form models, account take over) and use the outcome of this analysis to advise the business, supporting Data Scientists and Product Teams by creating model-based decision strategies to generate “bottom-line” business benefits through the optimization of product offers and related experiences across all platforms.

Your objective lies in making sure that the rest of the company is well informed and able to use Risk data to generate actionable insights empowering our business partners to produce optimal customer experiences through innovations in data-driven decision making.

What you’ll do:

  • Create the strategy and road map for Risk Analytics within the Tribe
  • Help to optimize costs by having automation in areas where possible
  • Support planning and prioritization processes by providing data driven value estimation of competing initiatives
  • Suggest and be able to take decisions on how to find and obtain the required data 
  • Building dashboard with key KPIs, metrics and performance indicators
  • Liaise between Product, Business and Data Science teams to ensure that business requirements are understood and prioritised 
  • Provide thought leadership on how we present data and how we can improve

You’ll be great for this role if you have:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in analytics, with at least 2 of those years in product or product-adjacent analytics 
  • Experience in the risk domain 
  • Payment industry experience (highly desired) 
  • At least 1 year of people management experience
  • Clear and efficient communication, coupled with evident enthusiasm for leading a team and helping people grow
  • Ability to operate on a cross organsational level with multiple senior business and technical stakeholders
  • Demonstration of advanced SQL ability; Python or R knowledge is a plus
  • Experience building dashboards using tools such as PowerBI, Tableau or similar
