LISBONOur Lisbon office is located in Portugal's cosmopolitan capital. Mostly the teams here are focused around Technology and Store of the Future. In this office, Farfetchers like to have catch ups in the ball pit or creative moments by the grand piano!
THE ROLEWe are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join our Farfetch Operations organisation, which is investing in new ways to leverage an extremely rich data ecosystem in order to create actionable solutions that simplify and scale operations, delivering unrivalled value to our customers. Reporting to the Data Science Manager, you will work with every Operations team - creating a great opportunity to develop exciting projects in many different areas (regression & classification, forecasting, NLP, computer vision, etc). Above all, you will be part of a great ops data science team that will value your contributions and support your growth and development.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Access and analyse complex data to communicate insights and make recommendations to a wide array of expert and non-expert stakeholders;
  • Develop new data science models to ensure pervasive automation throughout Operations;
  • Create scalable solutions to our evolving operations challenges using operations research, machine learning, and simulation techniques;
  • Own models(end-to-end) which are ongoing/in production while maintaining them as well as envisioning new versioning as per business needs/plans.
  • Engage with the Operations partners to nurture a data-driven strategy in Operations;

WHO YOU ARE

  • Degree in a quantitative discipline: Computer Science, Statistics/Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or equivalent;
  • Ability to understand and create insightful machine learning models to solve complex business problems;
  • Programming experience in Python for exploratory analysis, feature engineering, common numerical and machine learning packages (NumPy, pandas, SciPy, statsmodels, sklearn, keras, pytorch, etc) and storytelling;
  • Familiarity with SQL for assembling and analysing data sets from disparate sources.
  • Ability to rapidly learn new problem domains and translate complex data findings into clear insights in a precise and actionable manner;
  • Understanding of mathematical, statistical and optimization concepts and techniques;
  • English language, both written and spoken.
  • Data Science related role in Retail, E-commerce or Operations environment (preferable)
  • Developing production software (preferable)
  • Operations research algorithms (preferable)
  • Working with big data technologies (e.g., Cloud services (GCP, AWS, Databricks), Spark, Hadoop, Hive) (preferable)
