As the lead Data Engineer in our Discovery Informatics department, you will be centrally involved in developing highly innovative products that support decision making in drug discovery as part of our AI-enabled drug discovery. You will be part of a fast-paced, and multidisciplinary team, developing novel products for both greenfield and established projects. We expect our team members to be experts in their field and to bring new ideas to ensure we are continuing to developing high quality software and data products. Where will you be based? This role can be based in our modern offices in Boston or Miami on the East Coast of the US, or Dundee or Oxford in the UK, where you can reap the benefits of our endless supply of office snacks, or you can be based remotely.
Requirements
- 3-8+ years software engineering experience.
- Expertise in Python/Scala applied to scientific data manipulation with commercial experience
- Expertise in creating and using diverse database types e.g. relational, no-SQL, graph
- Deep experience in using Linux e.g. shell scripting, text processing tools - grep awk, sed, web data tools – wget, APIs, etc.
- Experience in building scalable data extraction and query pipelines e.g. Prefect, KNIME, Elasticsearch/Lucene, Logstash, Kibana, etc.
- Experience in developing practical software solutions for a diverse set of problems.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence requirements.
- Ideally knowledge of core life science data sources, and text mining approaches.
