JOB DESCRIPTION

A critical role of Magic Leap's Business Technology (BT) solutions teams,  Data Engineer will support data warehouse, data analysis initiatives and ensure optimal data and information delivery architecture to support ongoing projects. The incumbent must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data engineering and Business intelligence needs of multiple teams, systems and products.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Data visualization, presentation, and modeling 
  • Analyze and synthesize data to drive decision making
  • Work closely with databases, reports, and dashboards to pull, refine, and interpret large sets of information
  • Make sense of raw data and make it digestible with data visualization tools like Tableau
  • Use reporting software to create models that depict trends in the customer base, assess company risk profiles, monitor ongoing campaigns, compile predictive reporting, and identify new untapped markets
  • Work closely with senior data engineers to generate reports to identify KPIs and metrics
  • Identify and recommend innovative ways to save money by streamlining business processes
  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Integrate large, complex data sets that meet business requirements
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Evaluate/Review/Implement/Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various data sources
  • Work with stakeholders at multiple levels to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
  • Facilitate meetings to gather business and data requirements and translate them into report and analysis for sales and finance teams
  • Support data analysis tools used by multiple business intelligence resources throughout the organization
  • Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in the data ecosystem

 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

 

As a Data Analyst  you will report to our Sr. Manager, Business Technology, Core Data.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3-5 years of experience in a data engineer/Tableau developer role
  • Understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Proficient in the use of data visualization tools such as Tableau Desktop/Server
  • Proficient in the use of Data Prep tools like Data Robot/Paxata 
  • Experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets
  • Awareness of micro and macro trends in business intelligence, big data, and modern data visualization techniques
  • Experience building and optimizing big data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal & external data and processes and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with both structured and unstructured datasets
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases: BigQuery,Redshift, Snowflake, PostgreSQL, SQL Server is preferred
  • Experience with data pipeline and CI/CD management tools
  • Working knowledge of SAP, experience with extracting and modeling SAP data is a plus
  • Experience with scripting languages: Python and Java is preferred
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting closely-spaced, ambitious timelines;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

 

EDUCATION

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics, Informatics, Computer Science or another quantitative field with 3-5 years of experience in a Data Analyst role
