Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineering Lead to join our team. You will have a experience delivering projects and will advance our mission to build, deploy, and sustain machine learning models that optimize process performance indicators and trends.

You will plan, manager, and control the activities of a team that provides technology-based data reporting tools and management for business segments or the company at large. You'll bring expertise or identify subject matter experts to support multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret and produce recommendations based on company reporting and data needs. You will generate recommendations for business groups by providing technical reports that identify and address business issues and opportunities. You will ensure that guardrails and procedures align with corporate strategic vision. You will also select, develop, and evaluate personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function in an agile process.

You will report to the Director, MLE and Data Science.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead the execution of technical roadmaps and data pipelines for digital products featuring AI/ML algorithms, including low coding, data, and models at scale
  • Lead a team of MLEs and provide guidance and mentorship to ensure successful project delivery
  • Collaborate with teams to identify opportunities for implementing machine learning solutions to improve business processes
  • Develop and implement ML-based solutions and components for detecting anomalous conditions and singularities in monitored processes and operations
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and data science to ensure our solutions are cutting-edge and effective.
  • Understand, explore, and deliver relevant data analyses to inform data inclusion, exclusion, and sub-setting criteria and feature and model selection for DH&I solutions.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to analyze and select appropriate data models and algorithms across multiple operations/departments using diverse data.
  • Coordinate with data engineering teams to extract and create data features from large datasets for input into models.
  • Coordinate work with data scientists to define model validation strategies, train, and tune models, and analyze and resolve errors in models.
  • Lead model deployment to production.
  • Define and develop model monitoring and maintenance processes including metrics to assess accuracy, drift, etc.
  • Lead and develop standards, processes, and best practices for the team across the data science-based solution implementation lifecycle.

The Essentials - You Will Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as needed

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:

  • Typically requires 5+ years of relevant leadership experience.
  • Master's or higher in Computer Science, Business Analytics, Automation, Informatics, Sustainability, Math, Statistics, or similar field.
  • Experience leading teams or projects in ML and Data Sciencie areas.
  • Prior experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Engineer, or similar role.
  • Understanding of data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
  • Experience writing code in Python (opensource contributions or Kaggle kernels).
  • Familiarity with Linux operating system.
  • Experience working with teams in an Agile setting.
  • Experience deploying a machine learning model to production on Azure, Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar cloud technology service suite.
  • Expeirence with Generative AI, LLMs, Prompt Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience using Databricks or Apache Spark (i.e., PySpark, SparkR, or Scala) and understanding best practices.
  • Hands-on experience with multiple programming languages – Python, SQL, Scala, R, Golang, C#, JavaScript, C/C++ or similar.
  • Proficiency in using and extending ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
  • Experience with Vertex AI or AWS SageMaker stack.
  • Publications or conference presentations on topics in the machine learning arena.

The Base Salary Compensation range for this role is $128,720 - 193,080 with an annual target bonus of 8% of base salary. Our company benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.

This position is part of a job family. Experience will be the determining factor for position level and compensation.
