Data Analyst, Hull/Remote (Hybrid Working)

Up to £35k DOE + Benefits


We are looking to recruit a motivated Data Analyst into our growing data team. Data is integral to all products and services that we offer to our clients, with the data team responsible for supporting delivery, creating insights and making timely recommendations based on robust data analysis.


About the role

As a Data Analyst at Summit, you will be responsible for creating online dashboards to visualise and measure the success of marketing interventions; our aim is to improve the decision-making process with clear and detailed analysis. As part of the team, your responsibilities on a day-to-day basis will include:

  • The extraction, cleansing and validation of data from proprietary and third-party sources.
  • Employing robust, up-to-date data analysis techniques to effectively measure performance, providing actionable insights and recommendations both internally and to our clients.
  • Working with teams across the business to scope project requirements and advise on appropriate solutions or methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot, fix and improve existing reporting, making use of a range of tools to achieve reporting goals.
  • Maintaining and championing the use of data analysis within the digital marketing landscape, keeping abreast of current best practice recommendations.
  • Researching and understanding third-party data sources, identifying key partners which can be integrated within reporting dashboards and our technology platforms.
  • Providing training across the business on solutions you create, as well as general data and visualisation best practice.

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be someone that demonstrates a passion for what they do, actively seeking out new opportunities to learn. You’ll be an active member of the team, sharing your ideas and building on the ideas of others. You’ll need to be motivated, self-disciplined and organised, enabling you to manage a busy workload.


Key skills and knowledge include:

  • Degree in a relevant subject area (e.g. Maths, Statistics, Physics) is desired.
  • Relevant experience of applying data analysis techniques within a commercial environment, including statistical modelling, forecasting and testing.
  • Experience with SQL and R is desired, with experience in JavaScript, HTML/XML/CSS, or Python also desired but not essential.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology, e.g. Google Analytics, Adobe, Google Tag Manager, Excel/Sheets, Data Studio, Tableau.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and/or retail environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Good time management and accurate time estimation skills are essential, along with managing expectations of delivery across a variety of stakeholders.
  • An understanding of Agile and Scrum is desired, but not essential.
  • You’ll be a confident communicator to a range of personalities and job roles, from working within the data and product teams to managing internal client teams and external stakeholders.
  • You’ll be willing to further develop your skills via in-team coaching, business-wide training and external providers.
