Data Engineer Intern (2592)

Amyris has developed an industry-leading platform for designing and building synthetic organisms. Our technology is being used today to make clean beauty products, bio-based renewable chemicals, and even vaccine ingredients. The Data Engineering team at Amyris supports a suite of custom applications using various state of the art data technologies that make this cutting-edge science possible. Being on the Data Engineering team is all about learning and sharing experiences using the technologies that will make the difference for the company. 
Intern will primarily be here to learn the various technologies data engineering team is working on. This role will work with us to implement and understand the on-premise and cloud technologies following the best in the breed engineers. They will also learn more about processes, governance and security. This candidate will learn how to provide the best service for our clients making sure we are professional, following all processes but still making sure we don’t breach SLA’s and introduce unwanted delays in delivery. This role’s primary responsibility will be to learn these technologies and then help implement some of those, possibly providing new ideas to the team. 

Responsibilities:

• Be the point of contact to manage the incoming stream of support work and project work for the team
• Help organize and prioritize work for the team. This obviously will be done with the seniors’ help
• Help the team out with implementation of change management process and be a protagonist for it
• Help creating knowledgebase for the team
• Work on creating the asset management inventory for the data team
• Foster good relationship with our stakeholders and work on easing their pain points

Qualifications:

• Working towards a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Having a good understanding of some databases and data technologies, whether on cloud or on-prem 
• Knowledge of using MS office tools, specially ms excel, ms word, visio and powerpoint. This knowledge will be utilized to create architectural drawings working with seniors and documenting various applications we have
• Motivated self-starter who can manage various communication channels simultaneously with a positive, can-do attitude
• Someone with a  can-do attitude who is not shy to bring in their own perspective on doing things
• Have a deep understanding of RDBMS and database architecture 
• Experience with both open source and off the shelf technologies 
• Exceptional English communication skills, both written and verbal, this includes listening skills and an open attitude toward constructive feedback
• Ability to work both with a global team and individually
