Job Overview:
This Data Scientist will extend Olive’s track record of innovation and disruption as part of our in-house Ventures studio, where we build out new companies to hyper focus on specific solutions with independent market opportunities.

As the lead Data Scientist on the team, you will work directly with our founders to pioneer cutting-edge models and applications, putting a wide array of data to work for healthcare customers. You’ll benefit from access to a wealth of established technology and expertise within Olive itself as you drive development of novel models to power our founders’ vision and products.

Olive Ventures (OV) builds and launches new companies to solve challenges in healthcare that are not addressed by Olive’s direct offerings. OV is a part of the Olive ecosystem and is able to take advantage of Olive technologies and the Olive platform while introducing new innovations and business models. OV includes a team of people across disciplines that work with new company founders to develop their solution. This team includes investors, research analysts, business development, marketing, design, data science and engineering.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Employ machine learning and statistical modeling to create and enhance data driven products and solutions for startups in our Venture Studio
  • Work with a variety of data science tools, methods and programming languages
  • Ensure data quality throughout all stages of acquisition and processing, including areas such as data sourcing/collection, ground truth generation, normalization and transformation
  • Work with Big Data and transform complex datasets into more usable formats
  • Analyze and extract insights from internal and external data
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to solve complex problems
  • Perform thorough literature review of related technologies and methods, and make well-informed decisions on how to blend existing work with novel development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Decision Sciences, Applied Mathematics, Economics or equivalent combination of training and professional experience
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with relational and unstructured databases
  • 5+ years experience with machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistical modeling, data visualization, and data analysis across a variety of models and domains
  • Proficient in data science tools and programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, Tableau, ideally with experience transitioning these into production/customer-facing applications
  • Experience with graph modeling and/or process mining is a plus
  • Experience with cloud-based databases and workflows (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, etc)
  • Ability to partner and innovate amazing products with a very diverse team of founders, engineers, data scientists, operators, and customers
  • Passion for building “zero to one” technology and products, and rapidly iterating in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team, and time management skills
  • Confidence and ability to develop well-founded opinions on how to solve a variety of ambiguous problems without a great deal of guidance
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic, and responsive to internal and external clients and contacts
  • Delivery-oriented team player who takes responsibility for the team’s success and strives to continually learn and improve
  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company success
