Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Course Hero is scaling! We are looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer who is ready to hit the ground running and work on a lot of innovative and exciting projects related to study and learning tools. You will be a part of the Study Solutions pod in the Study Experiences team at Course Hero and collaborate cross-functionally to ship products that personalize learning experiences for students. 

You'll be a technical leader who provides mentorship to team members, drives execution on key projects and participates in the improvement of our software systems. Here are some ways you’ll make an impact:

• Be a self motivated, bold thinker, innovator and builder of innovative ML algorithms and embrace full stack data science.
• Design and develop machine learning techniques to precisely identify questions and provide accurate and contextually relevant answers. 
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product owners and UX designers to conceptualize, execute, and deliver compelling and personalized intelligent study experiences.
• You’ll help engineers from other teams to understand and learn about machine learning and help Course Hero be a data driven company.

Are you our Staff Machine Learning Engineer?

• 8+ years of relevant experience in building Machine Learning algorithms and systems, preferably with a focus on natural language processing, computational linguistics, and question-answering.
• 3+ years of experience using ML frameworks Scikit-Learn, PyTorch, or Tensorflow.
• 4+ years of solid programming experience in Python or Scala.

Bonus Points:

• Experience in working with Spark, Hive.
• Very passionate about education. 
• PhD or Master's degree in an applicable field like Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mathematics, or a similar field, or equivalent experience working on complex & large size ML projects.

We are a virtual-first company and have employees dispersed throughout the United States and Canada. We have a market-based pay structure that varies by location. The base pay for this position is dependent on multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed below. You may also be eligible to participate in our bonus program and may be offered an equity award, benefits, and other types of compensation.

This role is eligible for hire in Vancouver & Toronto, Canada.

In accordance with Canadian law, the base salary for this role if filled within Canada is as follows.

Canada Pay Range$178,000—$240,000 CAD
