As our newest Head of Data Warehousing Solutions, you’ll set the tone for awesome people who’ll look to you for guidance, motivation, and real-talk mentorship. You’ll steer the ship, making sure the talented engineers you will hire are all onboard sailing toward the same strategic goals.

Objective of the Role

Data is at the core of everything we do to make scientists more empowered and fulfil our mission: make science open – So we enjoy longer, healthier, and more prosperous lives than ever before in human history.

You will lead the teams responsible for the infrastructure, architecture, operations, and integrations of Frontiers’ Data Warehouse – Supporting data analytics and reporting workloads of Frontier’s day-to-day business.

Then, you will co-lead the creation of a Data Lake containing information about the whole publishing industry and its actors – Fundamental for market intelligence, recommendation algorithms, lead generation, audience segmentation for marketing campaigns and much, much more.

Responsibilities

  • You are responsible for elaborating the vision and roadmap of our Data Warehousing Solutions, and help shaping the products and business processes which will be built on them.
  • You are responsible for crafting and leading high impact strategies to ensure the success of our Data unit
  • You will join the leadership of our Enterprise Architecture and Data Governance programs, driving vision, strategy, decisions, implementation, and adoption – Get yourself sharp to advocate for data strategy, architecture, quality, modeling, security, and compliance.
  • You will train teams in what Data Quality is and how to get it right.
  • You work in close collaboration with the different Heads, Directors, and their team, ensuring strong alignment and synergies.
  • You will reach out to teams and colleagues in other departments, listening for their needs and wishes, ensuring they will be considered for your strategy and included into your master plan.
  • You are responsible for hiring team members and setting up the appropriate team structures to ensure the swift execution of the Data Warehousing related roadmaps and initiatives
  • You will be responsible for setting up engineering teams dedicated to data engineering, data modeling, data integration, data analytics and data visualization.
  • You will regularly dive deep into the data generated by your solutions to bring clarity into the successes and failures of the initiatives within your department
  • You will oversee the yearly and quarterly objectives and key results (OKRs) linked to our partnership activities
  • You proactively propose and lead cross-vertical and cross-departmental initiatives related to our objectives and key results (OKRs)
  • Proven knowledge of the academic publishing industry, his key actors and key processes.
  • Previous experience leading a team of mixed seniority profiles in different areas (from Data Architects to Data Engineers, from Product Managers to non-tech Business counterparts)
  • Experience with Data Architecture and Data Engineering practices – Datawarehouse’s, modeling, ETLs, ELTs is what you eat for breakfast.
  • Data savviness and fluency, capability to comfortably engage in technical discussions with senior data analysts, experienced engineers, and non-technical experts.
  • Demonstrated experience leading with courage, bringing profound changes to the status quo, and innovating regularly how a business leverages technology to achieve growth
  • Outstanding analytical skills, you are able to immediately understand a business opportunity/weakness by looking at a dashboard for the first time
  • Ability to dive deep into raw datasets to find key information that will enable you to make decisions for your solutions and products
  • Solid communication skills in English, both written and verbal are an absolute must.
