At Reddit we continue to grow our teams with the best talent. We're completely remote friendly and will continue to be after the pandemic.

We are excited to bring a Data Scientist onboard to work with our Feeds and Discover Teams! These teams focus on the user experience across Reddit’s main engagement and discovery surfaces: the home feed, the community feed, the popular feed, the news feed and the recently launched Discover Tab.

As the Senior Data Scientist embedded on the team, you will drive insights on how users consume content and engage across these surfaces, through experimentation and analyses that use the world’s coolest dataset. This will help inform product decisions that will keep making Reddit the best place to hang out online.

We partner with other data scientists, engineering teams, PMs, and designers, and your work will help encourage community, discovery, participation, and engagement.

What you’ll do:

  • Partner cross functionally with Eng and Product leads to help define and implement the team's roadmaps and initiatives
  • Become the expert at understanding how Feeds act both as consumer surfaces, but also as entry points to conversations and media.
  • Generate data-driven insights that propose next steps in strategic roadmaps
  • Design and evaluate A/B tests for product feature experiments to understand the effectiveness of product strategy
  • Define team metrics and goals and work with the Data Warehouse team to create ETLs (extract/transform/load) and reporting dashboards
  • Build the dashboards and tools that help your cross-functional partners self serve their data needs

Who you might be:

  • Have proven experience in quantitative or data science, or product analytics roles (4 or more years)
  • Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., SQL)
  • Are familiar with statistical analysis and programming languages preferred (e.g., R / Python)
  • Have worked with teams leveraging Machine Learning for ranking or similar features
  • Have a strong customer and business focus
  • Entrepreneurial and self-directed
  • Are comfortable in innovative and fast-paced environments, and have a bias toward action.
  • Can discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Enjoy solving ambiguous and undefined problems
