What you will be doing…

Data already powers insights, products and capabilities in every part of Ocado Technology but we’re really just getting started.  The role of the Data Analyst is to support product teams to make effective decisions using data that will help them to innovate and improve their products.

Analysts within the Automation & Control stream help product teams to use data to make better informed decisions. We are looking for an experienced analyst to join our analysts team to take ownership of ad-hoc analysis and reporting for the Automation & Control department, and help coaching other members in the team.  The scope of the role also includes exposure to data science, data engineering and data architecture through collaboration with other teams.

You will be… 

  • Carrying out in-depth analysis related to stakeholder questions or observed changes in metric behaviour. You will be providing results in a clear and actionable way to stakeholders, using the most appropriate available tooling
  • Collaborating with Product Managers/Software Engineers to create relevant product metrics, define and provide the relevant data.
  • Proactively working with other analysts in the team to identify areas of opportunity for improving our products
  • Empowering teams to self-serve data/insights through development in our BI tooling
  • Doing code reviews with other analysts and help the team to grow
  • Managing existing reporting/dashboards

You should be comfortable with high-levels of ambiguity, being a self-starter and excited by tackling large data challenges! 

Essential Toolkit for this role…

  • Experience
    • Significant demonstrable experience in a Data / Business Analyst role
  • Technical
    • Intermediate to Advanced SQL
    • Able to work with large and complex datasets and apply various data wrangling techniques
    • Flexible in approach with the ability to learn fast
  • Analytics 101
    • Designing KPIs and Metrics that Matter
    • Applying data analysis techniques and mathematical methods to complex problems 
    • Working with large/complex datasets in SQL 
    • Passion for creating clear, accurate reports using BI tools like Tableau,Looker, Data Studio
  • Communication 
    • Active listener
    • Ability to simplify the complex and tailor output for any audience
  • Collaboration 
    • Able to bring different skills and personalities together to deliver great outcomes
    • Able to manage and influence stakeholders

  • Domain knowledge:  Ecommerce, Supply Chain, Fulfilment or Logistics
  • Tech stack: Google BigQuery, Looker,Gitlab,Python
  • Experience in building large data sets, adopted data engineer best practice
  • Understanding of Machine Learning and optimisation algorithms
