Salary Range: $92,900.00 - $114,200.00  

*As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices 

Position Summary

Provides study design and analysis support for research studies performed by various investigators as well as for prospective and retrospective clinical, outcomes, and quality of care studies using primary and secondary data.

Job Responsibilities

  • Independently plans and executes research studies using SAS, SPSS, R, and STATA.  
  • Conducts analyses of primary and secondary data (ie, data collected primarily for research/quality analysis [primary data] or data routinely collected for administrative, clinical, or financial purposes [secondary data]). 
  • Writes programs to generate statistical analysis and maintains program library and documentation.  Suggests changes or improvements to existing program code, analytical and study methods, and reports for validity and limitation.
  • May contribute to the science sections for IRB and grant applications of assigned projects. Independently writes the methods section for peer reviewed publications. Creates manuscript ready tables.
  • Supervises data management of all necessary databases. 
  • Collaborates with leadership and Faculty to use data analysis to address the most pressing concerns of the department and division. 
  • Stays informed of statistical programming techniques as applied to health services research by reading journals and/or attending courses/programming meetings.
  • Trains and supervises junior staff and other project managers as needed.
  • Partners with NYP IT and Weill Cornell ITS specialists to maximize access to appropriate data.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

Experience

Master's degree preferred.

Approximately 2 years of experience using major statistical software for data analysis. 

Programming experience desired

Approximately 2-3 years of experience working in a hospital analyzing hospital-related clinical and administrative data desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and skills in use of parametric and nonparametric statistics; linear, logistic, and quantile regression modeling; hierarchical general linear models;
  • ROC analysis; structural equation modeling; predicting marginal effects; analysis of multiply imputed missing values.
  • Knowledge and skills in creating, merging, formatting, cleaning, importing and exporting various kinds of databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to effectively convey the essence of complex quantitative information succinctly in prose and graphics.
  • Knowledge and skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods, bias, confounding, reliability, validity, and imputation of missing data.
