Job Title: Director of Business Intelligence (BI)

The Role 

Metropolis is seeking a Director of Business Intelligence (BI) to lead the team responsible for data analysis, market research, and insights generation from sales and deployment data to inform strategic decision-making. Additionally, you will oversee a team that manages the underwriting processes for the sales team, ensuring accurate risk assessment and pricing strategies to support revenue growth. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align BI efforts with overall business objectives and sales strategies.  

The Director of Business Intelligence (BI) will report directly to the Senior Director, Sales Operations, and plays a crucial role in continuous improvement and innovation within the business intelligence function to support the company's growth and competitiveness. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and business acumen to succeed in today's data-driven landscape. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop strategies to improve sales performance through data analysis and insights derived from business intelligence (BI) tools. This involves collaborating with the sales team, senior management, and other departments to align BI initiatives with overall business objectives.  
  • Identify areas for process improvement within the sales operations, such as lead generation, pipeline management, and sales forecasting.  
  • Implement best practices and automation solutions to streamline workflows and increase efficiency. 
  • Oversee the management of sales data and ensure its accuracy, completeness, and security. 
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPIs to track sales performance and provide actionable insights to stakeholders. 
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across all BI platforms and tools. 
  • Establish and enforce BI best practices, standards, and governance processes. 
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in BI and data analytics and recommend innovative solutions to enhance BI capabilities. 
  • Provide strategic guidance and insights to senior management based on data analysis and interpretation. 
  • Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making within the organization by promoting BI adoption and usage. 
  • Develop and manage the BI budget, including resource allocation and expenditure tracking. 
  • Communicate BI strategy, progress, and results to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. 
  • Proven experience 7+ years in a leadership role overseeing BI initiatives, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment. 
  • Extensive knowledge of BI concepts, methodologies, tools, and technologies (e.g., data warehousing, ETL processes, data visualization, predictive analytics). 
  • Proficiency in BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, or similar tools. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and generate actionable insights. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across departments. 
  • Project management experience with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities effectively. 
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align BI initiatives with organizational objectives. 
  • Certifications in BI and data analytics (e.g., CBIP, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) are a plus.

The anticipated base pay for this position is $175,000.00 - $200,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base pay is one component of Metropolis’s total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a bonus plans and more.
