Data Science Internship: Dashboard for machine reliability

Introduction

Are you studying Data Science, Computer Science or Human-computer Interaction? Do you want to translate functional requirements and design into software designs? Then this internship could be interesting to you! 

Background information

Within the Machine Control group, we are responsible for sequencing the high-level machine behavior. To ensure successful machine operation, a large number of procedures exist to prevent and mitigate machine failures. One important mitigation method we use is automated recovery, where in case of a machine error, the problem is addressed and resolved automatically, most of the time without human intervention. Still, prevention of machine errors is highly prefered, and recovery insight is of crucial importance to achieve this.

Your assignment

The aim of this project is to gather usecases and requirements from architects and designers, and to design and implement visualization tools using existing recovery data. In this assignment you will: 

• Gather the needs of architects and designers; 
• Select the frameworks and data sources to build a visualization tool that fullfills the needs and fits the timeframe; 
• Design a visualization tool (UX design) ;
• Implement a visualization tool that connects to a live data source, preferably a web application; 
• Collect and integrate feedback continuously; 
• Closely interact with the team to iteratively create the dashboard. 

Your profile

To be a perfect match for this role, you:

• Are a Bachelor or Master student in the direction of Data Science, Computer science or human-computer interaction;
• Are experienced with data and databases (e.g. SQL, Spark);
• Are able to collect and integrate user requirements and feedback ;
• Are experienced with existing visualization platforms (e.g. Grafana); 
• Are experienced with web technologies (i.e. basic html/js, React/Vue/Angular, TS);
• Are a strong communicator with a 'can-do' mentality;

Other requirements you need to meet:

• You are available for 5 days/ week, and for a minimum duration of 5 months. Starting in September 2024; 

• You are enrolled at a school for the entire duration of the internship;

• You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you ‘re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, please include in your CV/motivation letter willingness to relocate;

This position requires access to U.S. controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such U.S. controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with applicants who are immediately eligible to access U.S. controlled technology.
