Job Description

The analyst will gather requirements from the end-user and interface with cross-functional teams within the firm to support the creation and delivery of timely, action-oriented intelligence. Strong ability to understand critical business processes and to analyze complex problems is essential for the successful execution of value-added analytics. The analyst must have a strong commitment to quality and be skilled in operating within a complex, global organization. The analyst must be systematic with strong attention to details and have the ability effectively process large amounts of data into meaningful information in order to improve business insights and enable business decisions. Key focus functional areas will include (but not limited to): assets under management and procurement spend data.

Key responsibilities:

  • Collect, organize, and maintain data and reporting according to best practices and Ares’ requirements.
  • Transform process flows to decrease manual intervention, improve data reliability, and establish consistency across teams.
  • Partner with IT to optimize and maintain reporting data models
  • Data wrangling on large, complex data sets with the output of more reliable formats for analysis, reporting and business requirements.
  • Account for the accuracy of data presented through validation processes and testing procedures.
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities including seeking digital opportunities and business intelligence tools to improve processes and reporting.
  • Create ad-hoc reports and analysis as required.
  • Manage projects through completion, include engaging users and others across the organization to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in a Data Analyst or similar role.
  • Experience in building data models, reports and dashboards (Power BI required, OneStream preferred).
  • Advanced SQL skills and the ability to write complex, optimized queries.
  • Ability to lead an end-user project from ideation through to implementation.
  • Experience educating on data collection methods, data cleansing, and ETL methodologies.
  • Creative thinking mind-set and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with business stakeholders including presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems or another quantitative field.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting preferred.
  • Experience in the Financial Services, Alternative Investments or Asset and Wealth Management industries preferred.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$160,000 - $190,000
