Job Description

The Profitability Algorithms team is responsible for creating the Cost and Profit estimates that power all of our customer touchpoints, from Marketing, Sort and Recommendations, to Pricing in one of the fastest growing e-commerce marketplaces in the world. The team leads forward thinking strategies to improve our customer experience by avoiding damages and returns, shipping items fast and economically to our customer and providing compelling pricing to our customers. Our products sit at the intersection of incenting supplier excellence in our complex Supply Chain by influencing and improving the Customer Experience across our Website. We leverage continuous experimentation, a modern tech stack, best-in-class modeling approaches, and economic theory to build a scalable, dynamic, and flexible platform. 

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and solution-oriented Senior Analyst to join our Product Analytics team. The team leverages Wayfair’s huge datasets to inform the roadmap of our pricing strategy. We work in close collaboration with a high performing team of engineers, machine learning engineers/data scientists/economists, and product managers who are on the leading edge of the product pricing space. Examples of our work are: 

  • Lead new project in-take by driving exploratory data analysis to generate new insights & inform our product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with the Storefront and Marketing teams to identify and size opportunities to improve the customer experience.
  • KPI reporting and monitoring of our Data Science Models; this includes anomaly detection and advanced measurement approaches.
  • Develop and present product improvement opportunities to executives, Product Partners and Data Science teams. 

What you will do

  • Run open-ended exploratory data analysis to identify new ideas and opportunities
  • Proactively monitor our cost and profitability models to identify potential issues, determine root causes, and resolve. 
  • Build new tools that allow us to be more productive and efficient
  • Work closely and build productive relationships with our product, engineering, machine learning, and economist partners.
  • Communicate key insights and recommendations to cross-functional executive leaders across the organization

What you will need

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a quantitative discipline (computer science, engineering, math, statistics, economics)
  • 1.5+ years work experience in a relevant field (in addition to any graduate education).
  • Analytics or Data Science experience with e-commerce companies is a strong plus.
  • Supply Chain or Operations Analytics experience is a strong plus.
  • In-depth experience with SQL or a structured programming language (aggregate functions, query optimization, stored procedures, string parsing, Vertica/Hive/Presto/Spark, etc.), required.
  • In-depth experience with python & python tools (Jupyter notebooks, functions, pandas, sklearn, matplotlib, etc.), highly preferred.
  • Experience with experimental design (A/B tests) and statistical analysis to drive business decision making, highly preferred. 
  • Knowledge and experience using machine learning algorithms/techniques (decision trees, random forest, deep learning, etc.) within a business context, highly preferred. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication with a team player, highly collaborative attitude. 
  • Ability to collaborate and proactively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results. Thrive in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills, and technical abilities along with problem-solving skills.
