AI Research Intern

POSITION SUMMARY

The AI Intern supports the strategic initiatives of SGK’s AI Council starting on May 20th, 2024, with an hourly wage of $22/hr. The Council’s vision is to weave AI technologies into the fabric of SGK’s operations, while ensuring this is done in a legally sound, ethical and successful manner.  A core functionality of the role is to provide R&D support to keep the AI Council informed on new and innovative AI models, especially those within the open source community, and make recommendations on where these solutions could add value to SGK’s workflow and client output. This internship reports to the AI Council Chair and provides an opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of various functions within both the AI Council and SGK’s production IT (PIT) groups.  The Intern is responsible for a variety of projects designed to be completed. Gain knowledge of and interact with business professionals throughout the internship.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in research and development of innovative AI models including large language models, image generation, video generation and other bespoke solutions
• Work closely with our creative teams to train them on implementing AI tools into their workflows
• Identify creative challenges that could benefit from AI automation or enhancement
• Look for ways to best leverage AI models available in the AWS Bedrock environment
• Contribute ideas and solutions for new AI capabilities
• Provides assistance with special projects as needed. 
• Additional duties are assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• Current enrollment in graduate or undergraduate degree program in an AI/ML or data scantest related field at a recognized college or university

• Knowledge and hands-on experience with state-of-the-art AI models
• Curiosity and passion for exploring potential of AI
• Strong communication skills to distill complex topics
• Experience with Python and common AI/ML libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers
• Understanding of natural language processing techniques like sentiment analysis, text generation, summarization

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Bonus: Experience working within the AWS Bedrock and SageMaker platforms
