As a Machine Learning Intern at Qonto, you will be performing quantitative studies that would help Qonto to manage its risk. You will be a key element of the team, that will provide support to other teams of the Risk and Compliance department with your technical skills in data. You will also participate to standardize and automatize binary classification models. You will test your classification tool on real data. Furthermore, you will be integrated into the Risk function, and will directly report to Gauthier Marquand.
👩‍💻 🧑‍💻 As a Machine Learning Intern at Qonto, you will:
- Write Modeling guidelines. You will work alongside different teams such as Data, and Risk; to write modeling guidelines on binary classification that will help Qonto standardize its modeling practices. For example feature selections, hyperparameter tuning, EDA…;
- Build a classification tool. You will help the quantitative risk team by providing a Python library to automatize specific tasks of the modeling process. The tool should follow the modeling guidelines you will have defined. You should also provide templates to ease the tool integration.
- Improve Risk Models. You will apply your classification tool to the risk models to see if it brings value to our current setup. You will also be encouraged to try innovative approaches to increase our model performances.
🤔 What you can expect:
- Write modeling guidelines that respect the state of the art. The guidelines should be clear and not subject to interpretation.
- Create a Python package with a high-quality level. That fits all the needs without performing manual adjustments.
- Create statistical models that help to quantify the risk at Qonto: for example fraud risk, credit risk and business model risk;
🤝 About your future manager:
- His path: You will directly report to Gauthier, a seasoned financial risk management professional with over a decade of experience. Gauthier's background spans consulting and Big banks, featuring a pivotal role at Société Générale as a Model Auditor, followed by his current position as a Lead of the Quantitative Risk team at Qonto since January 2023. His expertise ensures a comprehensive understanding of risk challenges and innovative solutions.
- What he brings to the team: Gauthier offers a deep understanding of quantitative risk analysis, strategic financial risk management, and fosters innovation. His fintech and banking sector experience ensures a comprehensive approach to challenges, making him instrumental in developing sophisticated risk management strategies at Qonto.

Education: You have a Master’s degree, with a specialization in Data Science, Machine learning or statistics.
Mastery: You master Excel, SQL, and Python with a deep understanding of binary classification problems.
Languages: You are native or fluent in English, French would be a plus.
