Expedia Group is looking for a Machine Learning Scientist to join our Flight Search Machine Learning team.  In this role, you will develop machine learning models and data-driven solutions that bring intelligence to our Flight Search products.  You will contribute to highly visible features on our websites with direct impact to our travelers.  With multiple brands and lines of businesses in our portfolio, Expedia Group has unparalleled and rich travel data and platform for you to explore new ideas and unlock significant value.

What you'll do:

- Formulate machine learning problems, build data ETL pipeline, conduct exploratory data analyses, and develop effective models

- Partner with engineering teams to deliver your solutions into production

- Document the technical details of your work

- Present your ideas and results to stakeholders and leadership teams in a clear and effective manner

- Collaborate and brainstorm with other team members and across the company

Who you are:

- PhD or Master’s degree in a technical field; or equivalent related professional experience

- Solid understanding of modern machine learning theories and techniques, mathematics, statistics, and hypothesis testing

- Hands-on experience with data wrangling, feature engineering, model building, and visualization

- Fluent in Python and related machine learning tools, deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, and SQL-like query languages such as Spark

- Experience working with large data sets in a distributed computing environment is a plus

- Effective written and verbal communication skills

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $103,000.00 to $144,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $165,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience.  Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
