As a Senior Robotics Field Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of robotic systems in various industrial settings. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure smooth operation of robotic equipment. While we expect you to have hands-on experience and tackle practical tasks when necessary, your main focus will be to build and lead a team of field engineers. Based on outstanding performance and successful contributions, there is the possibility of advancing to the role of Team Lead Field Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Deployment and Installation: Lead the installation and setup of robotic systems at client sites, ensuring proper configuration and integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Technical Support: Enable your team to provide on-site technical support for robotic systems, diagnosing and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime.
  • Training: Develop programs to train client personnel in the operation and maintenance of robotic equipment, ensuring they have the necessary skills to utilize the technology effectively.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor the performance of robotic systems and implement optimizations to improve efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers, software engineers, and product managers to deliver integrated solutions that meet client requirements.
  • Documentation: Introduce a system to maintain accurate records of installations, maintenance activities, and system configurations, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Feedback and Improvement: Gather feedback from clients and internal stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in robotic systems and processes, and contribute to the development of new features and functionalities.
  • Field Testing: Conceptualize field tests and trials to evaluate the performance of new robotic technologies in real-world environments, providing valuable insights for product development and refinement.
  • Team Building: Foster a collaborative and cohesive team environment among field engineering personnel, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of industry or research experience in robotics engineering, with a focus on field deployment and maintenance of robotic systems.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or ROS (Robot Operating System). Strong understanding of robotic hardware components, including sensors and actuators.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of leading technical projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
  • Customer Focus: Strong customer orientation with a commitment to delivering high-quality service and support to clients.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Bonus

  • Experience with (wheeled-)legged robots.
  • Experience in managing a field engineering team.
  • Additional experience as a developer, e.g. robotics hardware or software engineer, deepening your technical understanding of the system.
