Job Description

The opportunity

We are seeking a Director of Data Analytics and Technology to lead the development and maturation of Data Analytic and technology roadmap efforts for the LCG function. She/He/They will influence how data is gathered, visualized and analyzed for budget, resource allocation,  technology roadmap and strategic planning purposes.  She/He/They will be a key, strategic teammate with multi-functional responsibilities that include interacting with a range of stakeholders, from fellow team members to partners to leaders both within the function and in other functions such as Finance, Technology, Strategy and Risk.

This is a hybrid position with three days in office per week, preferably at the Toronto, ON, Canada location.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and monitor relevant dashboards and other data analytic tools and technologies that support partner efficiency, reporting, analysis and risk informed decision-making
  • Lead and/or support the development and presentation of business cases for initiatives and any associated funding asks based on analytic findings
  • Proactively identify insurance industry and general technological changes that will impact the function
  • Proactively enhance data analytic and general technology and technological skills within the LCG Strategy and Operations team
  • Independently identify, analyze and define material, unmet business needs, issues, trends and opportunities within the LCG function and recommend potential data analytic or other technology solutions
  • Monitor, and at times actively participate in, progress of relevant initiatives
  • Partner, coordinate and collaborate with team members, partners and leaders within the LCG function and in other functions like Finance, Technology, Strategy and Risk
  • Assist in identifying, planning and implementing change and/or continuous improvement opportunities and associated dependencies and/or roadblocks, with recommended options for addressing them
  • Find opportunities to use AI in achieving function’s goals and objectives

Qualifications:

  • 6 -10 years of progressive data analytic and technology architecture experience with expertise including cloud-based technologies (Azure), big data, data lakes, master data management, advanced data analytics for data gathering, storing and retrieval methods on various data platforms, both structured and unstructured
  • Expert experience with Power BI data visualization
  • Strong experience with SQL, and other methods for manipulating relational databases.
  • Strong financial competence, with an ability to understand key metrics and their relation to business drivers
  • Knowledgeable in technology frameworks such as COSO, COBIT, and ITIL
  • Comfort working in a sophisticated environment with a wide variety of systems and numerous internal organizations
  • Outstanding analytic and problem-solving skills, using data and information to highlight key themes and make recommendations for a senior executive audience.
  • Proven ability to facilitate efforts of diverse groups based in multiple locations for the purpose of obtaining resolving problems and consensus-based decision making.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication, influencing, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
  • Superior leadership, negotiation, collaboration, presentation, conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology is preferred
  • Advanced Technical Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or related field is preferred

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Toronto, Ontario

Salary range is expected to be between

$103,050.00 CAD - $185,490.00 CAD
