Data Engineer

Salary national between £27,000 - £40,000

London between £40,000 - £50,000

We are currently recruiting for a Data Engineer to be a part of our high performing and supportive Commercial Lines Data Engineering team!

The team are going through an exciting period of change, and this is a varied role that will provide you with the opportunity to truly enhance your skills.  if you are comfortable working in a changing environment and passionate about delivering quality data, this role could be ideal for you! Ideal background in Data Engineering rather than a Data Scientist but relevant experience is taken into consideration when we review the applications.

A bit about the job:

As a Data Engineer, you will develop and optimise data processes for deployment in a production environment.  Ideally you will have previous experience of the data warehousing tool Snowflake, although training can be provided. You will be responsible for programming in languages including SQL & PLSQL, having the necessary skills to work iteratively and collaboratively with our stakeholders. You will be able to deliver well-structured code and take responsibility for the quality of the solution, along with reviewing and documenting technical designs. Knowledge of Python, Git and Java are desirable.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent numerate subject or substantial equivalent relevant industry experience.

  • Knowledge of System Design and Application Development Lifecycle.

  • Organised self-starter, with drive and commitment; able to work independently with little supervision.

  • A willingness to be part of a highly collaborative team and to work closely with stakeholders in other business areas.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical subject matter to non-technical audiences.

  • Salary between national £27,000 - £40,000 and London £ £40,000 - £50,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
