About the Role:

Kasagi Labo is seeking a Data Engineer to join our forward-thinking team in Kuala Lumpur. You will be responsible for the overall development life-cycle and delivery of a cloud-native, multi-tenant content delivery and social networking platform. This role is ideal for experienced individuals who are ready to take on more technical responsibilities and contribute to the data infrastructure of our cutting-edge technology platform.

What you can expect to work on:

• Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions that address data needs.
• Architect and optimize data models and databases, to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Develop and maintain robust data infrastructure, including modern S3 data lake solutions
• Implement best practices for data quality, and data security to ensure compliance and integrity of data assets.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 3-5 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, with a strong focus on building and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Expertise in big data technologies and distributed computing frameworks (e.g.,, Spark, Kafka, Cloud equivalent/EMR Glue) for processing large-scale datasets.
• High proficiency in SQL and SparkSQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., SparkSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, for data manipulation, scripting, and automation.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality solutions.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with implementing an internal customer-facing self service analytics function is a plus
