Shell's Projects and Technology business develops advanced products and technologies to meet customer demand, grow the LNG, Gas, and Power businesses, integrate Manufacturing, Chemicals and Trading, and maximize the business competitiveness. As a Senior Data Engineer, your role is to be a subject matter expert and mentor young professionals in creating data-driven thinking within the organization. You will convert Vision and Data Strategy for IT solutions and deliver them while communicating with both technical developers and business managers. With your knowledge you will

What’s the role?

· Work together with the Solution & Data Architect and business SMEs to design the next generation big data platform to support the digital marketing platform.

· Design and implement a big new data solution which supports high amounts and velocity of data, supports future growth, use latest big data technologies/techniques, is cloud supported and in-line with Shell’s strategies.

· Use the latest development, testing and deployment techniques to quickly deploy new releases to e.g., deploy new data pipelines and add data sources.

· Drives and applies Agile Framework within his/her operating environment.

· Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

· Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and Azure, AWS ‘big data’ technologies.

· Working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as other a variety of databases.

· Building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets

· Performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.

· Analyse business requirements & complex datasets, translate the requirements into technical aspects

· Developing and maintaining applications with PySpark - Databricks

· Contribute to the overall design and architecture of the application developed and deployed.

· Performance Tuning with respect to executor sizing and other environmental parameters, code optimization, partitions tuning, etc.

· Implement demands based on functional specifications.

What we need from you

· Experienced in working with relational, Data warehouses databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (which may include Cosmos, Mongo DB also).

· Experienced in Azure, ADF, Creating Data Pipeline, Databrick, PySpark, Python.

· Experienced in building and optimizing complex queries. Good with manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, disconnected datasets.

· Good knowledge in working with big data sets and big data technologies.

· Experienced in working source control technologies (such as GITHUB, Azure DevOps), build and release pipelines.

· Experienced in working with AGILE, KANBAN methodologies.

· Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

· Good project management, requirement gathering and organizational skills.

· Self-motivated, Innovative and team player

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice to have Skills.

· Experience in working with unstructured datasets.

· Knowledge regarding reporting tools like SAC (SAP Analytics Cloud), WEBI etc.

· Knowledge regarding Cloud technologies such as AZURE.

· Good Knowledge with NoSQL databases

· Knowledge on Power App, Power BI

· Trading and Supply Knowledge in Energy Sector (Power, Gas etc)
