What the job involves

We are seeking a hands-on AI Engineering Lead to develop and deploy machine learning models that combine computer vision, sensors, and edge processing for real-world applications. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of modern AI systems and experience leading a team of engineers who share our passion. This role will be reporting to our Chief Product and Technology Officer.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers in developing modern artificial intelligence (AI) solutions.
• Develop and implement AI algorithms and machine learning models to solve complex business problems.
• Design, develop, and maintain software infrastructure for AI model training, deployment, and monitoring.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teams to ensure solutions meet technical and customer requirements.
• Conduct research and development activities to explore cutting-edge technologies and identify opportunities for product innovation and to push the boundaries of geospatial AI.
• Manage the AI engineering lifecycle, including data collection, model development, deployment, and maintenance.
• Contribute to the development and documentation of technical standards and best practices.
• Stay abreast of the latest AI technologies and trends.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in applied AI and machine learning, with a proven track record of building and deploying intelligent systems.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C++, and experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience in leading and managing engineering teams.
• Strong expertise in computer vision and deep learning techniques (e.g., SLAM, TSDF, RANSAC).
• Experience with geospatial data (e.g., imagery, LiDAR) and familiarity with geospatial concepts (e.g., coordinate systems, projections).
• Experience with deep learning techniques for localization and mapping applications.
• Research background in SLAM and/or publications in localization and mapping applications.

Target Salary Range

• $180,000 - $210,000
• Company granted equity
