Job Title: Digital Analytics Manager 

Reports To: Director, Insights & Analytics

Location: Ventura, CA

The Manager, Digital Analytics will play a crucial role in building the Digital Analytics function at Patagonia. As part of their responsibilities, they will scope and execute analytics requests for Patagonia.com and digital marketing, establish and maintain event tracking, build workflows and automations to support rapid and accurate decision-making, and build a team that can quickly inform business needs.  You will leverage strong relationships across many functions including but not limited to Digital Marketing & Technology, Data Engineering, UX Design, and Customer Service. If you have exceptional analyst skills and ability to execute work, a desire to coach and grow team members, and are excited by the opportunity to build out the Digital Analytics team at Patagonia, this role is for you.  

 

What you’ll do: 

  • Analyze and identify trends in digital and eCommerce KPIs, including conversion funnel health, digital marketing channel efficacy, site performance and traffic trends, and onsite user behavior 

  • Partner with Digital Studio stakeholders to drive business and brand goals forward via developing and maintaining dashboards, data visualizations, and/or ad-hoc reports  

  • Build and maintain event tracking process, including translating business requests into measurable goals, identifying technical requirements, writing event source code, and ensuring data is captured correctly via quality assurance 

  • Partner with centralized data and engineering teams to manage necessary data pipelines, QA digital data sets to ensure accuracy, and build data models for other analysts to use or to feed data visualization tools 

  • Manage relationships with our Analytics vendors, including Adobe Analytics, Tealium, Monetate, and Hotjar; scope and negotiate contracts for existing or new tools 

  • Ensure digital tracking tools are abiding by best practices, protecting PII, and are CCPA and GDPR compliant 

  • Create processes and workflows for managing and prioritizing various requests from teams  

  • As the Digital Analytics team grows, you will build and then manage a team who you will lead in executing the above responsibilities 

 

Who you are: 

  • You enjoy using data and your analytical abilities to solve problems and make decisions 

  • You have experience coaching and managing analysts (whether in a direct reporting line or on a project basis) and have a strong desire to coach and build teams 

  • You are comfortable translating business asks into analytical problems, identifying the right data and simplest analysis necessary to drive business value 

  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can translate unclear requests into actionable next steps 

  • You have demonstrated the ability to build strong relationships across teams 

  • You can explain complex topics in simple terms to people with varying technical abilities 

  • You are proactive in seeking out resources to learn and finding solutions at a rapid pace 

 

 

Experience you bring: 

  • 4+ years of related work experience, with increasing responsibility over time 

  • 2+ years in a retail, Direct to Consumer, or consulting/agency environment 

  • 1+ years of coaching and managing analysts, whether in a direct reporting line or on a project basis  

  • Strong working knowledge of web analytics software, data visualization tools, and debugging tools 

  • Proficient with using JavaScript to implement and maintain digital tracking technologies 

  • Proficient with using SQL independently to query and analyze large datasets and build data models 

  • Demonstrable professional experience transforming and analyzing complex digital data sets to drive actionable recommendations 

  • Proficient in data forecasting and modeling, AB and multivariant testing techniques and best practices

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with Adobe Analytics 

  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS 

  • Python / R proficiency  

  • Experience with agile teams and implementing agile methodology
