LMI is seeking a skilled Senior Operations Research Analyst SME in Colorado Springs, CO or Chantilly, VA to support an intelligence community client.
The Operations Research Analyst SME is an expert on complex mission integration concepts, test, operations, and planning for satellite architectures. This person requires a deep understanding of satellite ground mission data processing algorithms. The ideal candidate will have considerable experience in space situational awareness (SSA) and indications and warning (I&W) missions for IC and/or DoD satellite systems in Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) or Special Access Program (SAP) environments, have an exceptionally strong software test and verification background, and be able to develop and execute your work assignments from general guidance and objectives provided by management.

Responsibilities
- Designing, executing, and analyzing SSA and I&W mission data ground processing test events.
- Leading test events, test readiness reviews (TRRs), and Test & Verification reports.
- Developing and evolving threat scenarios to evaluate the robustness of algorithms, processes, and workflows for test and operational ground systems, analyzing those algorithms and workflows with live and recorded data inputs, and supporting system developer integration, testing and troubleshooting.
- Evaluating, developing, optimizing, and tuning algorithms for processing sensor data from ground- and space-based sensors to perform SSA and I&W functions.
- Support the System Program Office (SPO) in a technical capacity for planning, execution, monitoring, and oversight of satellite system development and acquisitions that advance the National Reconnaissance Office’s (NRO) space resiliency posture.
- Developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of U.S. SSA and I&W capabilities, as well as Foreign Space Domain Awareness capabilities and counter-space threats.
- Conducting tasking and collection of Space Object Surveillance and Identification (SOSI) data and leading subsequent data analysis
- Operate as an individual contributor and collaborate with of a team of high-performing Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), operational analysts, and software architects and developers that directly support the Government through lifecycle systems engineering and management processes to deliver critical space resiliency capabilities.
- Maintaining productive relationships with government program managers, support contactors, FFRDCs and external stakeholders.
- Utilize multiple S/W applications including (but not limited to) a python-based MS&A framework, platform & system models, advanced thin-client visualization, containerization & Kubernetes for High Performance Computing (HPC) deployments, cloud deployments, analytical engine development, and others for the execution of analyses.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Qualifications
Required:
- Graduate degree in a STEM field with a minimum ten (10) years professional experience or PhD in a STEM field with a minimum five (5) years of professional experience.
- Space domain experience and understanding in multiple areas of: astrodynamics; orbital mechanics; rendezvous and proximity operations; satellite communications; space situational awareness; indications and warning; command and control; and battle management.
- Five (5) years of satellite software development, test, and verification experience.
- Modeling, simulation, and analysis tool experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Active TS/SCI with CI Polygraph required. US Citizenship required.
Nice to have:
- Cameo Systems Modeler (or similar) MBSE authoring software and SysML (Systems Modeling Language) experience.
- Experience in satellite development factory or space systems program office (SPO).
- Working knowledge or radar and/or optical technologies.
- Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Familiarity with National Security Space architecture (IC and/or DoD).
- Overhead IMINT and/or SIGINT and geolocation experience.
Target salary range: $123,000 - $219,000. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications.
