Position Overview:

We are seeking an Engineering Intern with a focus on adaptive signal technology and research evaluating the effectiveness of adaptive signal systems. This fully remote position may require occasional travel. The intern will work closely with our team in Austin, Texas as well as projects potentially requiring travel throughout the US, contributing to the implementation of complex ITS road traffic control and management projects. This intern position will involve coordination with our Yunex hardware and software teams as well as our adaptive signal experts which will culminate in a summer project meant to measure the effectiveness of a multi-modal adaptive signal system. 

Key Skills:

Experience with adaptive signal technology

Research skills for evaluating the effectiveness of adaptive signal systems

Responsibilities:

Set up key metrics to measure to performance improvements of an adaptive signal system

Conduct traffic modelling to of the system to create a digital simulation of the anticipated changes

Provide support in engineering services and solutions

Coordinate with engineering staff and on-site personnel to ensure detection and other features are set-up properly

Minimum Requirements:

Educational background in traffic engineering or related field

Strong interest in intelligent traffic systems

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Capabilities:

Knowledge of software modelling tools like VISSIM

Familiarity with IT network communication

Interest in adaptive traffic control systems
