Job Description

Role Accountability and Duties:

  • Collaborate with business leaders, engineers, analysts, and product managers to understand data needs.
  • Interface with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of data sources using cloud-native data engineering principles
  • Design, build, and scale data pipelines across a variety of source systems and streams (internal, third-party, as well as cloud-based), distributed/elastic environments, and downstream applications and/or self-service solutions
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
  • Implement the appropriate design patterns while optimizing performance, cost, security, and scale and end user experience
  • Participate in development sprints, demos, and retrospectives, as well as release and deployment
  • Build and manage relationships with supporting technology and data analysis teams to effectively deliver work products to production.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team:

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Data analysis and cleansing of data using SQL and other database technologies
  • A track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets
  • Experience with AWS big data technologies (Glue, Airflow, Batch Operations, ECS/ECR)
  • Experience in one or more scripting or programming language, ideally Python
  • Solid understanding of data design approaches (and how to best use them)
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • A desire to work in a collaborative, intellectually curious environment
  • Effective analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience automating continuous development pipelines (Jenkins/Terraform)
  • A strong desire to deliver the best customer solutions in your industry
  • A passion for Aviation

The Salary range for this role is $87,550-$115K, depending on experience.
