POSITION OVERVIEW

Global Atlantic Financial Company (a subsidiary of Global Atlantic Financial Group Limited) is seeking a candidate for the position of Data Engineer.  Responsibilities include:

• Building high-performing, scalable, mission-critical, enterprise-grade data architecture and applications in Enterprise Data Hub (EDH), which is Global Atlantic’s data lake with centralized data repository hosted on Cloudera big data platform deployed on cloud-based AWS Infrastructure, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams.
• Performing data architecture analysis, design, development, and testing to deliver data applications, services, interfaces, ETL (Extract Transform Load) processes, reporting and other workflow and management initiatives.
• Working closely with the business, data analysts, and IT teams to support data strategy initiatives and ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout the strategy.
• Following modern Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles, test driven development and source code reviews, and change control standards in order to maintain compliance with policies.
• Designing and developing enterprise data architecture design and development of complex highly performing data APIs solutions to expose data to internal and external enterprise applications using Cloudera Hadoop and other data technologies like Spark, Scala, Python, and SQL.
• Assembling large, complex data sets that meet functional and non-functional business requirements.
• Creating and maintaining optimal data pipeline architecture.
• Devising and executing continual improvement initiatives in all Data Management Service delivery and technology, with a focus on delivery velocity and quality.
• Partnering with business leaders to determine and prioritize delivery initiatives.
• Defining or influencing system, technical, and application architectures for major areas of development.
• Devising and executing in SDLC, including requirements gathering, development, testing, release management, and maintenance.
• Engaging with business partners to report (formally and informally) on technology strengths, weaknesses, successes, and challenges on a regular basis.
• Ensuring appropriate change management and other technology methodologies are carried out on a consistent basis over time.
• Responsible for design and delivery of data solutions to empower data migration initiatives, business intelligence initiatives, and dashboards development.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related computational and analytical field, plus eighteen (18) months of experience as a member of an information technology team or related role.
• Eighteen (18) months of experience must include the following:
  • Architecting the complete end to end design of enterprise-wide solution using latest technologies, such as Hadoop, Cloudera, AWS, Spring boot/Spring Cloud, Rest API, or SQL.
  • Data modeling, complex data structures, data processing, and data quality and data lifecycle.
  • Working with structured query language (SQL) and relational databases, SQL authoring, and a variety of databases.
  • Working in Python, Core Java, Spark, Scala, AWS, Rest API, Microservices, Spring Boot, Hive SQL and Spring cloud.
  • Building and optimizing ‘big data’ data pipelines, architectures, and data sets.
  • Performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to provide solution for specific business requirements.
  • Building solutions for streaming applications.
  • Leading critical aspects of the data management and application management.
  • Working with UNIX shell scripting, batch scheduling, and version control tools.
  • Working with large scale server-side application development, including the design and implementation of high-volume data processing jobs.
