Telesign, a leading communication and security solutions provider, seeks a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Data Strategy. In this pivotal role, you will lead a Data Strategy team charged with specifying, managing, and deriving value from data that Telesign products use to detect and prevent fraud. The successful candidate will be key in ensuring adherence to the Telesign Data Compliance Framework, fostering data privacy safeguards, working closely with the Telesign Privacy Team and implementing the spirit and the letter of Telesign Data Privacy notice.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Manage a team of data strategy professionals who are responsible for understanding the compliance requirements in their region and partnering with a Telesign Operations team to build relationships with partner companies that can provide or consume data.
    1. This team collects the requirements from Data Product Managers who both seek data and relationships with third parties, and in the operation of their products, produce data that can be leveraged by third-parties to detect and prevent fraud.
    2. This team aggregates these product requirements at the regional basis for the Operations Team or Partner Team who takes the regional perspective and is accountable for a plan of execution.
    3. This team also collects information about changing regulations or protocols in a region, opportunities to work with third-parties, or requests from the regional sales organizations and brings them back to the Product Management Team for integration into the roadmap.
  2. Develop and implement strategies with third-party data partners to create new routes to market and new anti-fraud market offerings by combining the capabilities and datasets of global partners with Telesign capabilities. This includes creating a value proposition for these partners, and operating model, and a commercial model that provides pathways to shared success. These relationships will be executed by the Telesign Operations or Partner teams.
  3. As protecting the privacy of data subjects is a core completive advantage at Telesign you will develop and implement Data Compliance Framework:
    1. Design, build, and execute the Telesign Data Compliance Framework, establishing a trusted industry-leading Data and Analytics regulatory and control strategy.
    2. Approve Product Data Requirements Documents for all products and services.
    3. Develop the value proposition for Data Residency at Telesign.
    4. Establish and enforce data governance standards, ensuring compliance with data protection policies, regulations and laws.
  4. Collaborate for Remediation:
    1. Ensuring effective communication and collaboration between the Enterprise Data Management team and Legal and Privacy Teams is essential to establish a robust framework for data compliance, minimize legal risks, and uphold Telesign’s commitment to protecting data privacy.
    2. Partner with Product Managers, Architects, and other 2nd line of defense teams to implement improved solutions for regulatory, audit, and security findings.
    3. As you partner with the Data Governance Committee chair, you’ll oversee and manage Telesign's data-related policies, processes, and compliance.
    4. Collaborate with different business units to align data practices with organizational goals.
  5. Establish Data Governance Standards:
    1. Implement data governance standards, frameworks, policies, quality, lineage, and controls across cloud platforms and applications.
    2. Monitor and address data quality and security issues.
  6. Executive Accountability:
    1. Be accountable for executive closure on specific business unit/cross-functional data analytics audit issues, controls issues, and self-identified issues related to all platforms and environments for data and analytics.
    2. In case of regulatory inquiries or investigations, the Legal and Privacy Teams and Data Compliance Officer work together to respond to regulators, address legal requirements, and mitigate potential legal risks.
  7. Drive Process Improvements:
    1. Collaborate with business unit/cross-functional teams to drive improvements across critical business processes and data elements, optimizing business processes during regulatory remediation.
  8. Agile Team Building:
    1. Build an agile team to support sustainable regulatory reporting, business resiliency, and execution across the regulatory and audit issue portfolio.
  9. Platform and Process Assessment:
    1. Assess the current state of platforms, tools, and processes to define solutions for regulatory, audit, and security issue closures.
  10. Continuous Learning and Innovation:
    1. Stay informed on emerging industry demands and technologies, bringing new practices to Telesign.
    2. Establish a "Data Compliance Guild" or collaborative group within an organization that shares knowledge and best practices related to data compliance, it could be an internal community or forum where individuals from various departments come together to discuss and address data compliance challenges.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with an MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology / or Product Line Management
  • 5+ years of senior leadership experience in leading cross-functional teams and enterprise-wide programs.
  • 5+ years of experience integrating complex cross-corporate data processes and models.
  • Understanding of Software-as-a-Service subscription models sold directly to businesses as well as through third parties.
  • Executive presence to operate with VP- and C-Level executives at partner companies around the world
  • In-depth/working knowledge of the GDPR. Other applicable laws would be a plus.

  • Strong English oral, written, and negotiation skills.
