The Connections Research team is seeking a smart, driven, Senior Data Scientist to support innovative research practice at Amazon. This candidate must demonstrate creativity, provide exceptional organizational skills, have excellent analytical skills, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and be truly customer oriented. This role provides opportunity for significant exposure to Amazon’s culture and global efforts to engage our employees.

Role Overview
The Senior Data Scientist will be responsible for closely partnering with product and program owners, collaborating with scientists and engineers from other disciplines (e.g. economics, statistics, business intelligence, and data engineering), diving deep into the data to find relevant signals, and leveraging those signals to build models and surface actionable insights that drive business impacts.

Key Responsibilities:
· Distill informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives.
· Use predictive analytics and machine learning techniques to solve complex problems and drive business decisions.
· Design experiments leveraging models to measure effectiveness.
· Navigate a variety of data sources, such as enterprise data, customize surveys, focus groups, and/or external data sources.
· Work in expert cross-functional teams delivering on demanding projects.
· Uncover drivers, impacts, and key influences in employee engagement.

Basic Qualifications


· Bachelor's Degree
· 5+ years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab)
· 4+ years working as a Data Scientist
· Advanced degree from Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Operations Research, Finance or other quantitative fields
· Experience in analyzing large scale of data
· Proficiency in one of the following: Python, R, SPSS, SAS, Stata, Matlab
· Proficiency in SQL data extraction
· Comfortable mining unstructured data, with the ability to transform data into a usable state using appropriate tools and techniques
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
· Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner
· High levels of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

· Master Degree or PhD in from Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Math, Operations Research, Finance, or a related quantitative field
· Ability to develop experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, use of strong baselines, ability to accurately determine cause and effect relations
· Demonstrable track record of dealing well with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering results in a dynamic environment
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively advocate technical solutions to non-technical audiences
· Track record of innovation and strategic impact across teams
· Executive-facing verbal and written communication and data presentation skills
· Advanced SQL, data modeling, data mining (SQL, ETL, data warehousing)
· Proven ability to influence change strategies with data
