Schonfeld Strategic Advisors LLC has an opening for a Data Scientist, Portfolio Managers and Analysts in New York, New York and Miami, Florida. 

The position duties are as follows: Re-envision Schonfeld’s data platform including designing, developing, deploying and supporting existing applications as well as new features and platforms. Day to day job duties include: 

  • Applying machine learning and data analysis techniques to enrich structured and unstructured datasets with new features and create new proprietary predictive datasets; 
  • Extracting valuable features out of large and complex datasets; 
  • Performing exploratory data analysis using R, numpy/pandas/scikit-learn) and SQL; 
  • Analyzing raw data to assess its quality and identifying opportunities to clean and enhance it with new features; 
  • Leveraging technologies such as docker, Azure/GCP/AWS to ensure minimal data loss during server and storage transfers; 
  • Utilizing data analysis tools such as R, numpy/pandas/scikit-learn) and SQL on a daily basis; and 
  • Collaborating with the internal team to develop research tools and libraries that accelerate the team’s research efforts. 

The position requires a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field or foreign equivalent, followed by 2 years of experience as a Data Scientist or Quantitative Researcher or similar position within the quantitative finance industry. Experience must include: 

  • 2 years of experience with data analysis tools (including numpy/pandas/scikit-learn) and SQL 
  • 2 years of experience with Machine Learning & advanced regression analysis in a scalable computing environment 
  • 2 years of experience using data storage and querying tools (including relational SQL and NoSQL databases) 
  • 2 years of experience using Python programming language and cloud based environments (including AWS, Google, and Cloud) to perform distributed and parallel programming 
  • 2 years of experience conducting quantitative research on publicly traded securities 

Part-time telecommuting permitted.  

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $165,000 & $165,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
