Artificial Intelligence Architect

PROCEPT BioRobotics is a surgical robotics company enabling better patient care by developing transformative solutions in urology. With an initial focus on BPH, the company’s AquaBeam® Robotic System delivering Aquablation therapy, is the first FDA-cleared, automated surgical robot for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Aquablation therapy combines real-time, multi-dimensional imaging, automated robotics and heat-free waterjet ablation for targeted, controlled, and immediate removal of prostate tissue. Aquablation therapy offers predictable and reproducible outcomes, independent of prostate anatomy, prostate size or surgeon experience. 
SUMMARY
The Artificial Intelligence Architect leads the development in computer vision, multiple model imaging and fusion, and explore other strategic AI fields that could impact Procept product strategy and roadmap.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, communicating the strategic vision of AI initiatives, and building consensus for strategic AI investment.
• Team Mentorship: Grow, lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of AI professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Project Oversight: Oversee the entire AI development life cycle, ensuring projects are strategically aligned, delivered on time, and within budget constraints.
• Technical Strategy: Develop and execute AI strategies that leverage emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to enhance the organization's competitive advantage.
• Solution Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, translating them into effective AI solutions that address specific challenges and opportunities.
• Algorithm/Architecture Development: Lead the development of advanced machine learning algorithms, models, and systems, focusing on innovation and keeping current with latest developments across research and the major commercial players.
• Coding and Programming: Demonstrate hands-on coding and programming expertise, utilizing languages such as Python, or others commonly used in AI development.
• Testing and Evaluation: Establish robust testing protocols and methodologies to evaluate the performance and reliability of AI systems, ensuring optimal outcomes.
• Integration and Scalability: Work on seamless integration of AI solutions with existing systems and technologies, while considering scalability and future enhancements.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with executives, business leaders, and cross-functional teams to understand business needs and provide strategic AI insights and solutions.
• Documentation: Document strategic plans, technical processes, and methodologies, facilitating knowledge sharing and strategic alignment within the organization.
• Maintain trained status for, and comply with, all relevant aspects of the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality Management System to ensure product and support regulatory compliance
• Understand and adhere to the PROCEPT BioRobotics Quality & EHS policies

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Certifications)

• Required:
• Education: Typically holds a degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees (Master's or Ph.D.) in AI, machine learning, or a related discipline are often preferred.
• Experience: Substantial experience in AI development, with a track record of successfully leading and delivering AI projects. Prior experience in a leadership or managerial role is beneficial.
• Strategic Thinking: Demonstrates a strategic mindset with the ability to align AI initiatives with broader business strategies and goals.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch), programming languages (Python, Java), and relevant AI technologies.
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design innovative solutions to complex challenges.
• Communication: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team, foster collaboration, and drive results.
• Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends, staying informed about the latest developments in AI.
• Project Management: Proficient in project management methodologies and tools for effective planning, execution, and monitoring.

• Ethics and Governance: Understands and implements ethical considerations and governance principles in AI projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Strategic Decision-making: Demonstrates strong strategic decision-making abilities, considering both short-term goals and long-term vision.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Grow, lead and mentor AI  team on technical design and development, minor responsibility on people management.

• The employee will occasionally be exposed to engineering labs. The environment is subject to moderate noise from machinery (IE machine shop equipment, the PROCEPT Aquablation unit, computer equipment, printers, etc.), for which proper hearing protection may be assigned and worn. 
• The employee may be exposed to hazards including electrical sparking, water, and chemicals, for which proper protective equipment will be assigned and worn.

 For US Based Candidates Only For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $212,000-$293,000 a year
PROCEPT BioRobotics is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices and we aim to provide employees with total compensation packages that are market competitive. While our ranges are posted, the exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the successful candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, location or comparison to other employees already in similar roles. In addition to base salary, our positions are eligible for variable compensation through one of our incentive plans as well as equity compensation based on role and level. PROCEPT also offers a comprehensive suite of benefits including, but not limited to, health insurance plans, ESPP, 401k retirement savings plan with a company match, and paid time off programs.
