Director, AI Platform Engineering

About this role

Role Brief:
 

This role is for an AI Platform/Product Engineering team lead within the Aladdin AI Platform Engineering team and will utilize industry-standard technologies, such as Large Language Models, AI Orchestration Frameworks like LangChain, Spring, GIT/ADO, Solr, Cassandra and more. Aladdin AI Platform Engineering is a team within the Aladdin Product Engineering Group and is responsible for technology utilized by Researchers, Portfolio Managers, Traders, Risk Managers, and Investment Operations. More specifically the role is in the team that works alongside Aladdin Product Engineering and Aladdin Business groups, building AI-powered technology services and solutions that can be leveraged more broadly across the Aladdin Investment Management Platform. The role will also afford the chance to learn about the financial industry, specifically the sophisticated world of risk management, valuations, and operations.

Responsibilities include:

• Help design and build the next generation of world’s best investment management technology platform for managing various Investment lifecycle processes.

• Collaborate with team members in a multi-office, multi-country environment.

• Oversee the teams’ agile delivery process ensuring completion of sprint tasks, adherence to software quality standards and successful delivery of software into production.

• Provide high quality technical input into team discussions of software design and implementation.

• Engage with business stakeholders to understand and refine business and functional requirements and convert them into scalable technical design.

• Apply validated quality software engineering practices through all phases of software development.

• Ensure resilience and stability through quality code reviews, unit, regression and user acceptance testing, dev ops and level two production support.

• Manage the career growth of junior members of the team.

Qualifications:

• B.S. / M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject area with at least 12+ years of proven professional experience

• Ability to clearly articulate technology strategy and objectives

• Good hands-on object-oriented programming experience in Java and Python

• Experience designing and building APIs and Microservices

• Strong experience with Open-Source technology stack (Spring/SprintBoot, Apache Solr, Protocol Buffers, Langchain, Docker)

• Experience with relational database and NoSQL Database (e.g. Apache Cassandra)

• Experience of working in Agile Development Team

• Strong analytical problem-solving skills with an ability to pick up new concepts quickly

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Excellent communication and presentation skill

• Experience with supporting and mentoring junior software engineers

Nice to have:

• Experience with cloud native development (Kubernetes, Docker) and Cloud Platform like Microsoft Azure

• Open source publish-subscribe frameworks like Apache Kafka

• Exposure to Large Language Models (Open AI LLMs), AI app development frameworks, Vector databases and NLP.

• Domain expertise in finance and financial services
