About Klarna
Klarna was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2005. Since then we've changed the banking industry forever. And now we're creating the world's smoothest shopping experience. We serve over 90 million consumers worldwide, and partner with 250,000 merchants – with a new merchant joining us every 8 minutes. Including some of the world's leading brands, such as H&M, ASOS, IKEA, Adidas, Samsung and Lufthansa. Our offices are spread over 17 different markets, hosted by 5000+ employees from 100+ nationalities.
As Data Scientists, we are seeded throughout Klarna’s businesses, either in small technical teams owning a problem space, or embedded as experts in cross-functional teams containing Product Managers, Engineers, Designers and more. We work hard to build Data Science products that our customers will love, and we take great pride in owning models end-to-end, from prototyping to production. You can check out some of our recent projects at engineering.klarna.com.
Right now, we are rapidly building out Klarna’s Model Risk Function, and we are looking for multiple Junior, Senior and Lead Data Scientists to take our quantitative capabilities to the next level.

As a Data Scientist in Credit Risk, you will:

  • Embrace your inner creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking skills to ensure Klarna’s bleeding-edge risk models are robust to change, developed according to sound methodologies, and globally compliant.
  • Use state-of-the-art ML algorithms to challenge and push production models to their highest potential.
  • Get nitty-gritty with the code, data, calculations, model methodologies, and end-to-end ML pipelines used to power production Data Science at scale. Join forces with Data Scientists throughout Klarna to add value to their work through review, your expert knowledge, feedback, and coaching. Empower Klarna with highly accurate risk scores for consumers, merchants and transactions.

In order to be successful in this role, we believe that you will have:

  • A university degree in a highly technical, numerate subject (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Economics).
  • Experience with Python, ML libraries, SQL, Git, and good knowledge of cloud infrastructure.
  • A deep understanding of the theoretical foundations behind various models and algorithms, such as generalized linear models, GBDTs, ensemble methods, and mathematical statistics.
  • Experience developing or Validating Credit and Fraud Scoring Models at a Financial Institution.
  • Great communication, organization, and team working skills, combined with a solid understanding of Global Regulatory Environments.
