About the role and teamThe Data Analytics landscape is diverse, innovative, and constantly changing. The Deloitte Risk Analytics team seeks a passionate, innovative and high performing Senior Consultant/Manager to join our team in Christchurch.  Risk Analytics sits within the wider Risk Advisory business and includes Forensic, Cyber and Operational Risk. Our Christchurch Risk Advisory practice has grown rapidly over the last four years and is the largest team in the South Island. We have ambitious plans to continue growing and need an equally ambitious individual to help us realise those plans. Your role is to lead a team of high-performing data analysts to provide risk focused analytics.  You will act as a role model, support, and align your team to objectives and set the direction to deliver successful projects on time, and to budget using the latest tools and techniques. This is an exciting space to work, helping clients build risk analytics capability and/or delivering projects leveraging analytics and AI technology.  The projects are complex and wide ranging, including fraud investigations, inappropriate workplace activity, global misconduct investigations, helping clients manage operational risk issues, assurance and identifying important business insights.  The team pride themselves in delivering exceptional client services by leveraging analytics and AI to solve complex and challenging problems.

About you You are driven, self-motivated and pride yourself on providing the same high-quality service that is expected and delivered from one of New Zealand’s largest and most respected professional services firms. You are interested in developing business through both the quality of your work and the time you spend in building relationships with key clients. Key to your success within Risk Advisory is your technical expertise coupled with your ‘people skills’ and ability to engage with your peers, the wider business and our clients. 

Ideally you'll have:

  • 5+ years data analytics experience (we will consider more experienced candidates)
  • Highly experienced in your ability to query, manipulate, analyse, and interpret data, with experience in:
  • SQL (or SAS or similar)
  • Reporting and data visualisation tools (ideally Tableau and/or PowerBI but not essential)
  • Python and/or R
  • AWS and/or Azure skills desired
  • An understanding of Data Science methodologies (experience a bonus)
  • An understanding of the Importance of managing risk and quality on data projects
  • Ability to design data and technology-enabled business processes that enable value-adding business outcomes
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects at a time
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills
  • Excellent people skills, ability to establish confident and long-lasting relationships with individuals
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior analysts (preferred)
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to leverage domain expertise and industry knowledge to deliver tailored analytics solutions
