What we're looking for

We are looking for a hands-on, technical Senior Manager to join a team of accomplished data engineers, data architects, data scientists, and data product managers. You will lead our Data ingestion team and will rely on both managerial and technical skills. You will report directly to the VP of Data.

You will

  • Work with upstream data providers and partners to gather data requirements for data ingestion from multiple source systems across the business.
  • Lead a team of data engineers to build a scalable fault-tolerant ingestion framework to ingest these data in streaming and batch mode and land in the data lake
  • Build an end-to-end data ingestion pipeline (ELT )to ingest data from multiple source systems (enterprise applications, product usage/IOT systems and databases, marketing systems)
  • Determine data ingestion catalog /inventory of all data ingestion by source, category and latency
  • Lead and mentor a geographically dispersed team of data engineers and adopt SDLC best practices
  • Develop deep partnerships with Product, Engineering and upstream data providers to accomplish major cross-functional measurements, testing, and modeling efforts.
  • Determine SLA's and data contracts with upstream data teams to ensure 99.99% uptime of the ingestion pipelines
  • Manage vendor relationships and budget, creating productive relationships with software and consulting vendors to manage your budget and staff.

You have

  • 7+ years of in software and data engineering and experience building data ingestion pipelines
  • 7+ years of management experience leading Data engineering teams
  • Hands-on ability in SQL, Python, DBT, Spark and AWS Data & Analytics ecosystems
  • On-call: experience managing SRE (site reliability engineers) to support data engineering and platform operations and perform incident management.
  • Experience building data solutions and architecture using AWS and open-source services like S3, Redshift, SQS, Kinesis, Kafka, Spark, and Athena.
  • experience in one or more programming languages like Python, Ruby or Java
  • Graduate degree in computer science, or equivalent
