Company Description

Amwell is a leading telehealth platform in the United States and globally, connecting and enabling providers, insurers, patients, and innovators to deliver greater access to more affordable, higher quality care. Amwell believes that digital care delivery will transform healthcare. We offer a single, comprehensive platform to support all telehealth needs from urgent to acute and post-acute care, as well as chronic care management and healthy living. With over a decade of experience, Amwell powers telehealth solutions for over 150 health systems comprised of 2,000 hospitals and 55 health plan partners with over 36,000 employers, covering over 80 million lives.

Conversa Health is helping to fundamentally transform healthcare from reactive to proactive by partnering with health systems and other healthcare organizations who use our Automated Virtual Care & Triage platform to improve patient care and health. We have a library of programs - ranging from chronic care management to post-acute, perioperative, pre and post procedure, cancer, new parents, etc.- that guide patients on evidence-based pathways to better health outcomes. The magic that makes this work are the automated, personalized digital conversations (‘chats”) that are designed to maximize engagement, collect valuable patient-generated health data (PGHD), analyze that data, and use it to drive positive behaviors/actions.

Brief Overview

DevOps is at the foundation of our success as a product engineering organization. The team supporting this function is key to the ongoing evolution of the engineering organization to develop more automated models of software and system deployment, testing, and support. In this role, you'll aid in making key decisions for the engineering organization on what is feasible to increase our throughput, quality, and conformance checks, and support the development of cloud-native engineering models. There is a lot of ground to be covered with this role; initial areas of focus to include migration of existing assets to highly evolved build/deployment pipelines using containers (Docker), evaluation and integration of SaaS functions to evolve supportability and scale of existing capabilities, and ensuring the optimization of system infrastructure to managed cloud options.

Core Responsibilities

  • DevOps roadmap in conjunction with peers
  • Work with engineering team to inform DevOps and Cloud/Data priorities, develop solutions, and support team through implementation
  • Support of code and infrastructure release activities, with an eye to automation improvements
  • Focus on data enablement for expanded reporting, analytics, and automated insight generation (the lifeblood of any system, right?)

Qualifications

  • Experience in CI/CD build pipelines development and associated tooling/scripting
  • Knowledge of common data frameworks and models of utilization (OLTP, OLAP) and data-in/data-out patterns appropriate to each (ETL,
  • data streaming, replication, etc.)
  • Have worked with modern SCM systems (Git) and build scheduling tools
  • Comfortable in YAML and other script/markup languages used
  • Experience in Docker container deployment and runtime options (Swarm, Kubernetes)
  • Experience in repository deployment/management for both source assets (Nexus, Artifactory) and containers (DockerHub, Quay)
  • Working knowledge of compliance/vulnerability scanning (container, static source analysis, etc.) would be beneficial
  • Experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) capabilities and scripting/deployment/monitoring integration

Measures of success

  • You want to work yourself out of a job: every day you find one more item to automate away a formerly manual step
  • The overall technical platform developed by the engineering team is constantly getting 'better, cheaper, faster'
  • New capabilities are developed with cloud-native and automated CI/CD process as part of their core DNA
  • At the end of the working week, you can look back at a series of improvements that made the organization
  • You refuse to let yourself or your peers stay complacent with yesteryear models of platform development and enabling
