About the Role

The Senior Data Analyst is a key team member supporting the business with analytics that enable quality, data-driven decisions. You will act as a consultative, engaged point of contact with a wide range of cross-functional business partners from finance, to data engineering, to marketing and everything in between!  You will help clarify and provide insights to strategic questions that span the whole organization.  You will use advanced data modeling, predictive modeling, and analytical techniques to interpret key findings from company data.  But we also don’t shy away from digging deep into the data with SQL and visualizations – if that is what is needed to solve a problem.  We are looking for a driven, data-loving, team player that will jump in and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

However, we aren’t just here to give good, well-researched answers – we also make sure the business is asking the right questions as well – and ensure these questions that can be adequately answered with the data we have available.  At times, this means seeking out new data sources to enable better understanding.

What you'll do

  • Actively own relationships with a broad swathe of business teams (Finance, Compliance, Product, Marketing, Data Engineering and more).  You will be responsible for shaping and defining their questions before using high quality analytics to provide insights.
  • Gather requirements, guide and partner with cross-functional stakeholders as they navigate ambiguity and rapidly shifting priorities.
  • Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques, and business strategies.
  • Use analytical concepts and statistical techniques to develop hypothesis, design and test experiments, analyze data, draw conclusions and develop (and present) actionable recommendations for your business partners
  • Use both descriptive and predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, underwriting as well as other business outcomes.
  • Be a champion for data accuracy and consistent reporting.
  • Develop Tableau visualizations that drive and optimize business outcomes

What we're looking for

  • Expert ability to engage with business partners, get them to ask the right questions, and willingness to present your findings directly
  • 5+ years of professional experience manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large, complex datasets… all while making insights easy to consume for a general audience.
  • Strong SQL skills; the ability to perform effective querying involving multiple tables and subqueries is the bare minimum.  If you can do performance tuning or write stored procedures….even better!  Window functions are your close friend.
  • Working knowledge of data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems on-premises and cloud-based data sources.

Bonus Points

  • Python or Google cloud knowledge
  • Hungry to learn and grow, especially from mistakes (we all make them)!
  • Unsolved puzzles irk you.
