About the Role:   The Data Engineering Manager is responsible for leading teams of engineers on a day-to-day basis and ensures that projects are being completed on time and meet product/project expectations. Engineers look to the Engineering Manager for process, troubleshooting, mentoring, technical expertise, and career growth opportunities. Partners with other managers and the product owner, to ensure the successful ongoing implementation of a cloud-based data platform and analytics solution for our rapidly growing business engagement.

Your Responsibilities:

• Be a thought leader across the Data Engineering & Services organization to build new and improved data tools and services that can scale with the company.
• Help develop sustainable data solutions with current and leading generation data technologies to meet the needs of our organization and business customers
• Work with engineering leadership, business, and product owners to clarify roadmap initiatives and translate them into epics and stories
• Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs.
• Lead and develop others and up and coming engineers
• Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions.
• Ensure all deliverables are of high quality throughout the project by adhering to coding standards and best practices and participating in code reviews.
• Build robust systems with an eye on automation and the long-term maintenance and support of the application
• Work directly with the product owner and end-users to constantly deliver products in a highly collaborative and agile environment
• Define and manage SLA's for all data sets and processes running in production.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience required, Master’s degree preferred
• 6+ years of experience designing and implementing large-scale, complex, data-driven applications on the cloud, preferably on Google Cloud.
• 6+ years of hands-on programming experience with Python/Scala, frameworks (Apache Spark, Airflow) and streaming technologies (Kafka)
• 6+ years of hands-on experience using SQL to perform complex data manipulation
• 3+ years of experience modeling data warehouses
• 3+ years of experience building data pipelines, CICD pipelines, and fit for purpose data stores
• Ability to deal with ambiguity and work with rapidly-changing business data
• Appreciation of the need and ability to design for flexible systems that adapt to evolving user requirements
• Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal)
