Responsibilities of ML engineers
“Riiid has grown at an unprecedented pace in the field of AIEd and has been producing exciting results. The roles of ML engineers are vital because they will have a direct impact on what Riiid can produce, and they are essential for infusing the results of Riiid’s cutting-edge AI research into its products. From collecting and preprocessing data to designing model pipeline and serving models, ML engineers at Riiid are expected to handle overall software engineering required for equipping Riiid’s services with AI. Their roles will be vital in taking care of the requirements from numerous business opportunities coming from around the globe, in minimizing technical debt, and in creating a scalable system. In the end, Riiid will be creating a top-tier machine learning system in the world.”  


Responsibilities
Backend• Feature engineering and establishing the system required for it• Creating AI-based business logic• Monitoring API and responding to issues 
MLOps• Maintaining AI infrastructure• Managing GPU clusters for ML model training• Managing AI model serving clusters• Automating model version control and distribution 
Data Engineering• Designing service log• Establishing data pipelines• Verifying data• Data preprocessing• Data version-controlling 

Qualifications• Experience with development using Python, Kotlin, Node.js, etc.• Experience with using RDBMS, NoSQL and applying them to services• Experience with developing and managing with AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud services• Experience with version control systems such as Git• Experience with issue tracking systems such as Jira, etc.• 1+ year of experience with using machine learning frameworks such as sklearn, tensorflow, and PyTorch.• Experience with container virtualization using Docker• 5+ years of or equivalent experience with working in related fields• Basic Korean language skill

Good-to-haves • Experience with service orchestration using k8s• Experience with establishing CI/CD• Experience with establishing data ETL pipeline using services like Airflow• Knowledge of basic theory and working level experience of machine learning or statistics• Masters or doctoral degree (CS / EE) in a related field• Ability to understand and write the most current papers on deep-learning• Experience of getting ranked in a Kaggle challenge• Experience with participating in a open-source project• Experience with designing machine learning pipeline using services like Kubeflow• Experience with distributing and managing ML-related commercial services

Development: How do we make it? • We develop global content services and AI services to maximize AIEd technology.Moreover, we aim to use the know-how and insights gained during this process to develop a standardized technology that is used in the development of educational platforms.• Riiid will break out of the traditional mindset and framework and create a type of AI-based learning platform that has never been made before. This requires a new way of thinking. With a broad perspective, all engineers at Riiid think, challenge, and fail as they develop new products. Through that process, Riiid will create products that will grow exponentially.• In addition, we have to distribute our products far and wide in order to help more learners in the global market. We cannot do this alone. That is why the engineers at Riiid will be building an eco-system of AI education platforms through which they can create products in partnership with the engineers from many other companies.
